In a way, that's kind of a fun part of golf, finding out what works best for you and working toward that but it would be reallllly nice if i could just hit the ball like i used to As of 2020, it is reported Bryson's irons all measure 37.5 inches. https://www.golfworks.com/content/description/StdLengths.pdf?srsltid=AfmBOoorpJOrDd60fn9vfjZZG7u4xL1bN3V9UUp2GOW4WsZlAZJIrWgv And i believe he uses graphite. ![]() ![]()

EDIT: According to my wrist to ground measurement and height, my 7i should be 37.5 and my current one is 37". That exra .5" makes a big difference. Someone posted all his snaps and it looked like the majority were runs away from him. The runs toward him he played well and contributed to the stop. PJ Jules seems intriguing. I didnt notice him during the game but he scored well and I know just made a couple of plays in practice. Perhaps im just clinging to hope but Anthony played poorly or maybe im putting too much on him for allowing that late 1st half score as he had poor awareness and shouldve been able to have an easy PBU.

That's like having a highly rated car because the seats are great, the appearance is nice, the trunk is spacious... but all the wheels always just fall off... like excuse me, isn't that the most important part of the car that doesn't work? How can that result in an amazingly rated car? ____________________________________________________________

Like Phil, I am right handed but swing left handed (bat left also). I got the 60 he designed as well, and it’s my favorite club! I have a big backyard, so I can work on chipping every day. An engineer I worked with turned me on to Shawn Clements and he has helped me immensely. (10 hours ago)Sled21 Wrote: I'm left-handed, and the only things I do right-handed are play guitar and swing a club. That's because I was taught to play right-handed, and when I started playing baseball, my coach made me bat right-handed. (Although I field left) I hear it's a lot of help playing golf if you drink Pappy. (8 hours ago)rfaulk34 Wrote: I'm right behind you, 59. I played a lot in my younger days. Since my son had passed, i only played once in the last 12 years before last sunday. I have been to the range several times. I'm a natural lefty and people always comment on how good my swing looks. My problem since i've got back into it is where the head of the club ends up on my downswing and it's immensely frustrating, since i didn't have any problem striking the ball before. I've pretty much figured out it has to do with the tightness in my back and simply not being able to stay stable while i'm bent at different angles. Thats why i'm considering the taller irons. I actually finally got that spot on my back to pop to free up the knot i've had for a few years and i'm in the process of finding out if i can use the standard clubs, through repetition. Since i've put in a pool and built a deck and a shed in my back yard, i don't have nearly as much room as i used to but i do have enough room for a net or even a simulator. For now i just go back there and swing at imaginary balls to try and get that muscle memory back. I just put a tee in the groud to simuate where the bottom of a ball would be and if i hear that "click" i know my club head is where it should be. That was the only time i did that in the one time we were out on the course and the 3 other times i was at the range with my nephew and buddy. So, i'm like sure, you hit the ball well by yourself but not when others are around, that sounds reasonable... (7 hours ago)rfaulk34 Wrote: Yep. 37.5 and he uses large grips on all of them. In the 80s, I don't think I had more than 2 clubs of the same brand in my bag. I would go to the Special T and "rent" clubs to see if I liked them enough to buy. Before I bought them, I first tested them at Lunken, because it's wide open fairways was like being at the range and still allowed me to see how they fit in combination with my clubs for loft and distance. Then I moved to New York in early 90s and there went my golf game. As I have grown older, I got too busy and lazy to go through the same process. I switched to Pings in early 2000s, and my current set is graphite G425s, with 3 and 4 crossovers. I like them enough, but its not the same as my 80s set. ![]()

I will probably do my irons over the winter as well. Be careful ordering them though, I wear X-Large gloves, and I got the "Small" Jumbomax grips, which are huge. He uses the largest one I think, which is basically the same as a baseball bat. There is a point of diminishing returns on the grips and the larger you go, the more apt you are to slice. I can hit the "smalls" straight. I doubt I could use the XLs ![]()

They have a totally different method for coming up with the overall grade but i don't know that anyone but them knows how it's done. I guess you could say that if he had good grades in 3 areas, that accounted for say 35 snaps and one really poor grade that accounted for 1 or 2 snaps, it wouldn't really be fair to use that grade as an average along with the others. I've never been big on their grades but as long as they're consistent (ly good or bad) across the board, i guess they're usable. ![]() "Hope is not a strategy"

I doubt I could use the XLs I just re-gripped my clubs last Saturday. Standard Champkey rubber ones. The standard grips don't feel too small and i do have large hands. They're not very expensive so i thought about trying some larger grips just to see how they feel. ![]() "Hope is not a strategy"

(5 hours ago)TheLeonardLeap Wrote: It always confuses me when a grade just doesn't make a ton of logical sense. Just from a mathematical standpoint, and I am guessing here: 1) They allocate/weight so much of the overall grade to each section: run D, pass rush, coverage, tackling penalties, etc. Say it is 20% on each of those 5. You could score a 0 on tackling and still rate 80.0 if you aced everything else. 2) # of snaps may also influence the weighting. If I play 20 snaps but only have a tackle chance on 4, I suspect tackling will be weighted less than if I was in on 8. If I play 20 snaps and 18 of them have me running a route and 1 has me pass blacking & 1 run blocking, then my grade should be doninated by whatever my receiving grade is. It should not be 33% each run block, pass block, receiving. One, both, or some combo of the above would be my guess. |
