Well, I, for one, am glad the defense got torched. Sometimes I think these guys get to reading too much of their press and believe the hype. Last year, it was the offense that came out of camp thinking they were one of the best, only to be unable to score against NE. So far this year, all the news articles are about how the DBs are shutting down Chase, Higgins, etc., and they won't face anyone better in the regular season. This game was a reality check for them, and I think they needed it. We'll see if they're better against the Redskins.
I fell asleep right after the LB intercepted the ball and ran it back for the touchdown, and didn't see the results of the review. Was he touched down, or was it a pick 6?

Looked like last years team

RE: The Good, Bad, and Fugly; Preseason Game 1 - jj22 - 08-08-2025

He was touched down but a couple of the lb's did have good games, and should be in the "good" category, but I'll let other posters highlight some of the players that did shine/step up. Give some individual accolades.

I did not get to watch the game, but I saw on Twitter that Joe Goodberry mentioned that for those who were paying attention to Stewart, he showed some flashes but also had plenty of bad reps including getting put to the ground some.

I did see the clip of the Taven Bryan - Cam Sample stunt that resulted in a sack, which was nice.

Tanner Hudson did pretty good, might end up being TE4 after all if he can play all preseason like that.

Not a good look for Jermaine Burton having all of 1 catch for 3 yards, but maybe some of that was the fact that Ridder+Browning only completed 13 passes total out of 30.

RE: The Good, Bad, and Fugly; Preseason Game 1 - Isaac Curtis: The Real #85 - 08-08-2025

The soecial teams penalties/plays were the difference.

Brightwell's 70+ yard return wiped out for a hold on Grandy. Ivey lining up offside gave them 3 points. Jackson roughing the center gave them 4. And the big punt reurn at the end of the half.

In terms of players,,it looks like Charlie Jones is WR4, Hudson looks secure, and Giles-Harris helped himself a lot. As did Brightwell, probably.

Might there be a QB2 battle? Browning looked crappy. Despite good camps, Ivey & I. Williams played poorly.

Stewart looked like he did in college...... he just need tons of development. Most snaps he didn't offer any resistance.

He looked off balance most snaps.  Hopefully he was just tentative and getting his feet wet.   I didn't like what I saw.  Wish they would have played him more to get him reps and confidence.

RE: The Good, Bad, and Fugly; Preseason Game 1 - Bengalitis - 08-08-2025

the biggest thing for this season is going to be morale....

with a noticeable weak D, Burrow and Co. will have to stay strong and just keep putting points on the board, hopefully firing up the defense enough to stop opponents and secure a win.
if it goes the other way around, then its gonna be a another mediocre season of 9 - 8 or so.

Good tape to work off of now and coaches have a base that they can build on.

RE: The Good, Bad, and Fugly; Preseason Game 1 - Destro - 08-08-2025

Got through it without any injuries ( I believe ), so that is great.
Ridder and Hudson are BFF
No real surprises on what needs work.

I think we are a legit contender if any deficiency dials itself better, even just slightly. The worry is if that if any issues gets worse, and that is possible.

RE: The Good, Bad, and Fugly; Preseason Game 1 - Whatever - 08-08-2025

I thought Jenkins played pretty well, from what I saw. Jackson being buried on the depth chart is not a good sign, though.

RE: The Good, Bad, and Fugly; Preseason Game 1 - lone bengal - 08-08-2025

The Good - Starting offense looked good and I believe Fairchild help up ok. Stewart had a nice tackle for loss and looked like he pressured the QB on one play.

The Ugly - Myles Murphy not holding the edge on a big run and not being able to finish versus backup tackles, was hoping a 1st rd. pick in year 3 would dominate vs. backups.
Mckinnley Jackson playing with the 3rd string is somewhat concerning.

Agreed.

He didn't see the field much, but he did see the field for basically every team (1st stringers, 2nd and 3rd). That may have been by design, I don't know.

More than Indy can say, as they lost Richardson to a hand injury on a Ravens sack. Dislocated the pinky on his throwing hand. No timetable for return..

RE: The Good, Bad, and Fugly; Preseason Game 1 - Southpaw Frerotte - 08-08-2025

Ossai and Murphy both showed nothing against backups.

RE: The Good, Bad, and Fugly; Preseason Game 1 - Fan_in_Kettering - 08-08-2025

This may be the first season where an offense finishes #1 and a defense finishes #32.

Ossai was better than Murphy. Miles just brings nothing to the table. Time to move on from him I think. He just doesn't have that dog in him.
