Bengals backups are never good, since forever (which is honestly a problem--but i digress). To be fair the bulk of the second string doesn't get a lot of time against another team other than preseason.  I don't follow other teams but I wonder how bad their entire second string is.

I get that they still have stuff to learn and it’s the first game but I am disappointed to see guys losing 1 on 1 matchups. That is just head to head beating your man and it is not happening.

The edge rushers did not win many (if any) one on ones vs the Eagles second string tackles.

According to the Eagles' announcers, the Bengals had a lot of starters in there on defense, while the Eagles had 2nd and 3rd stringers on their offense.

But, yes, there should not be doom and gloom. The Bengals are installing a new defense and it would be surprising if they were a smooth machine in the very first game.
