***Preseason Gameday Thread - Bengals @ Eagles***

Our defense in 2024 had no stops against the Eagles and 1 stop against Washington. I don’t see that changing with what I see today.

95% of the starters on d played their backups and couldn’t get a stop either.

Sorry but no competent defense allows roughly 80% of what they've given up tonight.

Our starters couldn’t stop Philadelphia, are you watching the same game. 

I’m no expert, but last year I predicted bengals going 8-9 or 9-8 and said the defense would be the difference whether we make the playoffs. I see the same thing again. 

If our defense is not middle of the pack we are in trouble.

Nah. You want your 2nd string to be competitive with the other teams 2nd string, 3rd string w/the 3rd string, etc. 

Bengals backups never look competitive against other backups. That's not doom and gloom, i'm not upset about it at all. It's just what it is and has been for some time. 

A decend backup QB would keep games so much closer but the offense just shuts down when Burrow goes out. For the live of me, i can't figure out how Browning looked as good as he did in '23 but has been so bad since. He should be able to complete some passes and lead at least one good drive.

We are DEFINITELY in serious trouble, especially with no TH, and likely even WITH him

It's the first Preseason game of the year, it's a new scheme, a new DC, and 1 player out there was a starter for us last year. Maybe give it a minute

Be accurate. BJ Hill, CTB and Dax Hill did not suit up tonight. And on that terrible opening series only five defensive starters played. Even still the defensive play tonight has been contemptible.
