JJ made that thread last season pointing out something was off with the operations because of Rehkow.

Ah, I remember that. Rehkow did cost us a game with a bad hold last year, might of been the Chiefs game I forget.

He needs to work on his holds for sure, but Rehkow is one heck of a Punter. Robbins wasn't even close to as good IMO.

I was always under the impression that it was also partly due to the punter being used to handling long, and sometimes errant snaps and maintain composure.

Why not just make the backup QB the holder? Better passer, better hands.

Not trying to defend Rehkow’s holding, but a lot of the issues last year were with Adomitis snaps being off line, high to the right causing Rehkow to twist up to catch the snap and barely getting it down for the kick.  Not everything was on Rehkow.  The operation being off may have contributed to McPherson’s groin injury. I was happy to see there would be a competition for long snapper but haven’t heard much more about it.

Adomitis snaps were definitely on the outside shoulder. Seemingly too much. I think they are coached that but his execution didn’t seem consistent. And it was notable in Rehkow having to jerk back and catch it.

Right. Then maybe we’d get a fake! Backup QB’s hold all over the league. 

Simmons has gotten boring the last decade. We at least used to get thrown a bone with a fake punt from Peerman every once in awhile….

I pointed that out in a couple of threads. The holder has to get the ball out in front of his hands and not behind his right shoulder.

Yes I agree with this. Thats why I said after i watched a breakdown of camp from the last few days. Murphy ran the arch around him almost uncontested. So while im hoping for a big jump from Murphy seeing him get what could be 3 or 4 sacks against a guy is extremely troubling if we are gonna depend on him this season potentially.

Media reports arevthat he does better on the left side than right side at tackle but that he appears too slow to play the outside at this point in time. They thought trying him at guard might be a better fit at least on the right side. They weren’t sure if the issue was just that he wasn’t adjusting well to the unfamiliar right side, where he had played mostly in camp, or something more fundamental

It was emphasized they really wanted to see him in a game situation
