Day 2 NFL Draft!!!!!!!!!!!!

I actually like that Golden was in coillege football the past 3 years because it allowed him to get to know some of these players.

I am a ND fan. One thing I noticed with Golden was his ability to develop those kids. He has developed pro ready CB's, safeties, DL and LB's. He took ND defense from being good to being great.

I would skip DT in the second round. I dont know if any left are better than what we already have. Edge I would skip too. With the addition of Stewart we have enough on the roster. What would be interesting however is if Green fell due to character issues. If he is still available do the Bengals take him and try to work him into the defense in some type of role?

In the 2nd round I think you look at safety, OL and LB if Schwesinger is available.

I think Slayton is going to be a dog against the run.  That's his calling card.

I agree, I also McKinnley as his backup. Our DL was always best when we had at least 8 rotational guys to keep them fresh for the 4th quarter.

DE
Trey
Ossai
Murphy
Stewart
Sample
Johnson

DT
Salyton
Hill
Jenkins
McKinnley

Golden and Montgomery need to develop these guys, they are a good group.

Plus we were missing
Wilson
Hill
Turner
Rankins
Hubbard (not a great loss as he was having a bad year)

So missing a srarting DT, starting LB (our best LB) and 2 starting CB's.

Add in the rookie DT's did not get a full year due to injuries, I think both of them will progress in 2025.

I think the mistake some make is if the team does not sign the best FA in name only, then they dismiss FA and say FO did noting to improve the team. I want us to bring in a vet guard after June 1, but other that that I hope. they try and dtaft BPA every round. Hopefully 1 will be a guard in the draft.

What I loved about the last half of the season was a LOT of young guys played.  Whether it was on the DL or Safety or DB.

Those kids got a lot of experience.  They stepped up when we had injuries.

I think you'll see that be a major bonus heading into this season because I think Golden will run a defense similar to the previous defense with his own wrinkles.

As far as a vet guard after June 1st, it could happen. Hell were not even to May yet lol

I have faith in the front office to give us a solid roster.  It's up to the coaches on the OL, DL and DC to coach em up

As an Ohio State fan, I respected your defense more than your offense going into the National Title game.

Golden had those kids coached up and he had some studs.  Offensively the QB was still the weakness IMO.

Our biggest weakness was WR. Leonard is not a great, but not a bad collge QB. He runs like Allen and I wouldn't mind us drafting him in round 6 to use as change up option the same way Saints use Hill. But, problem is with 6 picks and higher needs, does not make a lot of sense for us.

But I cn see him get drafted and used as a big running back who can also throw the ball (not great, but they would have to respect his arm also.

Buckeyes WR corps was night and day versus ND, also better QB. I did not give us a big chance to win that game, we needed a whole bunch of breaks as OSU was clearly the more talented team.

As for Golden's defense, he was missing Mills at DT and our best CB Morrison also who likely goes in round 2 tonight. Golden did a great job getting others to step up for the injured guys. Mills i an interesing DT, he can pressure the QBa and likely will be available in round 6 for us. He had 6 or 7 sacks prior to his injury.

Personally, I think our needs are on the DL, OL, LB.  I don't see the Bengals drafting a WR, TE, RB, CB.   I could be wrong but I think S, OL could be chosen next.  My guess is tonight is either S or IOL.

Would you trade the 2nd and 3rd to move up to pick Emmanwori? You would still have the 4th round pick to take a guard like Dylan Fairchild potentially. You still have your 5th and 6th round picks.

You wont have the Chase/Higgins distraction because I truly don't believe the Trey situation last that far out.

I think you have new voices on the defensive side of the ball and coaches that can help players improve.

We all have coaches in our life that we've worked for that you eventually tune out because they say the same shit over and over.

At least in my career anyway.

I still think this is a playoff team and a playoff roster.  Offensively alone, the team is one of the top 3 best in the NFL, defensively only need to be 15-20.

Same here, now we don't have disgruntled players going into the season and coaches we KNOW are bad on Defense and as the OL coach.

We can at least give these new coaches a chance and we won 6 games in a row late last season before barely missing out on the Playoffs.

Just need to have a decent Defense and keep Burrow upright and we should be right back in the Playoffs this year.

Now let's nail Day 2!  Cool

Agreed, I would skip DT in the second day entirely.

They signed BJ Hill, they signed Slayton. They spent a 2nd and 3rd last year on DTs. Realistically any DT you draft now is going to be your 5th DT. You can't spend a 2nd or 3rd round pick on a 5th DT when you have so many other needs.

I agree let's nail day 2. Here is my list in no order who I would love in round 2.

Emmanwori - Safety
Watts - S
Revel - CB
Henderson - RB
Ersery - LT/G
Savaiinaea - G/OT
Schwesinger - LB
Morrison - CB
Ratledge - G
Thomas - CB
Milum - G
Frazier - G
Amos - CB
Wilson - Center
Judjins - RB

who do you have?

Would like any of them more in round 3 tonight

I would have picked Harmon with #17 or Nolen if he had been available because you get an interior pass rusher which the Bengals need.  The guys left now in the 2nd or 3rd round I think are a big drop off from those 1st round guys so it doesnt make any sense to go after a DT at this point.  There are still quality players at other positions that could help the team.

I suppose 'no' to DT now, although Ty Robinson or Darius Alexander could be available options tonight.

I'm not a draft expert by any means. I don't follow the players enough to make educated predictions. So I'll make an uneducated prediction and guess the Bengals will trade down in the 2nd round to get an extra pick or two. :)

I think they took DL off the need list with Stewart. The guard is the most galring weakness, but if the right safety, RB or CB is there, I think they should grab him not just for 2025, but the future.

We don't use an OL very much. We have Wilson and Pratt and added 2 vet backups. Having said that, I wanted Bama LB Campbell last night at #17.

I hope you are right an we can add an extra 3rd or at worse 4th.

I'm the opposite. Hoping for an interior pass rusher tonight. The Bengals pass rush unit is still near the bottom of the NFL. I do think Slayton was a massive addition because they just flat out didn't have a nose tackle and it showed all season.

Philly tried trading up to 23 to get him.  Then, very fortunate, ended up getting him at 31.
