Reds August 2025 Thread

When we traded for him, I knew he was an elite defender, but in the back of my mind I thought, "But does that REALLY matter? All we really need over there is someone who can play decently, like Sal Stewart."

And I'm still not sure what impact elite defense really has on a game, but man, it has been fun to watch him at 3B these last few weeks.

He is here for the long haul and we have committed to him, so this will be our reality for the next 4 years at least. If his bat can just be moderately below average, I'll be happy.

Unfortunately, so far with the Reds, he has remained one of the worst hitters in baseball (.225/.262/.325/.587 OPS+ of 58). For the entire year, he is last in the majors in SLG, OPS and 4th worst in OBP among qualified hitters.

Nothing against Apple TV. But it's a bummer tonight's game isnt on the regular FanDual channel.

Big 3-game series with the Brewers, who have had the Reds' number.

Reds only 0.5 game out of the WC thanks to NYM freefall.
Luckily, Mets have a tough series too - Seattle.

(For once, I'd like to see at least a series where the Reds actually get and hold the last WC spot instead of just not quite there but just a game or two out)
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs

Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward.

Sorry for Party Rocking!

Brewers activated Misiorowski who will start tonight.

Reds put Burns on the 15 day IL with a Grade 1 flexor strain. Joe La Sorsa called up.

How about the Reds getting to 7 over .500.  I believe this is the 3rd or 4th time they were 6 over, only to fall back again.

You can't be giving away uncompetitive outs at home. He got tagged 7-10ft from home.

Lol, talk about a meltdown. HBP, Walk, Walk, Walk.

Nice to be in the Brewers bullpen in the 2nd inning of Game 1.

Nice crooked number. Brewers have thrown 77 pitches thru 2 innings.

And Martinez gives up 5 in the 3rd and is out of the game.

I see 8-1... I stop watching for a minute to do something around the house and I come back and it's 8-6? What the hell, Martinez.

Just your standard reminder that Nick Martinez is the 3rd highest paid Red in franchise history.

Two innings to blow a 7 run lead. Almost impressive if it weren't so pathetic.

It's an overused term, but this is a must-win game. Coming out of this with a loss is a backbreaker. If this team has the kind of character it needs to beat more talented teams in October, then this is the day to show it.

"But what if we instead throw him a fastball belt height in the strikezone? He won't be expecting that!" - The Reds, probably

I have to commend the company that makes the Reds' uniforms . . . you can't even see the piss running down their legs right now.
Only users lose drugs.

No baserunners since the 2nd.

Mets with 3 in the 8th so far still down 11-9.
