This terrific. And reminds me of how the Cowboys use Micah Parsons. He came into the NFL as a linebacker, but Cowboys use him all over the place, often an edge, but also a linebacker. Sounds like Golden plans to use Stewart in a variety of roles, not just an edge.

Looking at this an injury at safety could be brutal.

I guess the contract holdout/dispute didn't really help, but he's on the field now and apparently making his presence well known. That's a huge win for the Bengals Defense.
Too early for anyone to have egg on their face. I did not like the pick draft night and infzct prior to said please don't pick Shemar Student. Once I have learned more, the more I think less chance of a bust. I think his early work is commendable and love the way talks about how versatile he is as Golden values goes who go play differet positions. The offense can't assume when he and guys like him are on the field they will be LDE or a specific position making it harder to call the best offensive play against us.
I am trying yo temper my early excitement because it is very hard for any mid first round pick to ne a huge contrinutor in year 1. I am excited to see all of the guys Thursday in a preseason game to get a guage on what we have bot only as starters, but the all important depth.
Looking at first depth chart, interior OL starters worry me still. Then next worry is depth at OT and also safety. It would not rea my heart to bring in a vet like Simmons, but I am trying to trust Golden sees something he likes in the group. On paper, I think our CB room is loaded with talent, same for WR room.

It did say this was not worth the paper it is written on from a coach's perspective yet.
It will be interesting to see how long the 1's play Thursday, then if rookies like Fairchild, Stewart and Knight play inot he 3rd quarter to gain experience. If they are going against 2 and 3's, can they dominate or shine is something I want to watch.

Egg is the preferred outcome right now. Man, just the thought of him actually getting coached up and learning some moves on top of his athleticism and hustle is enough to make your mouth water. I'm trying to temper my expectations as well, but it's getting harder because i don't remember talk and tape like this with MM. I just wanna see him wreck the Eagles, i don't care if it's 1s, 2s or 3s right now because any development is positive development.

Absolutely awesome to see Golden praising Jenkins on his progression, I think that he's going to be better than some suspect this year. Interesting that Hudson spun the ball, like he'd scored in a game. (not really the place in TC), overall we all knew that offense would win the day, just glad that the defense was able to get an initial stop.
Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

Nice to see Jenkins get a sack today against the 1st team offense. Of course likely beat on of our guards to get it.
Bengals should get Risner or Hernanez on speed dial. I want to see them Thurday, but I do hope our FO is putting our OG's and center under a microscope every practice and preseason game.

Good pressure by a pair of rookies. Rough pass blocking rep by Brooks.

Perfect pass. Collapsing pocket and rough rep by a Fairchild.

If this team is going to climb back to the top of the AFC it’s got to come from our last 2 drafts. The 3-4 before them haven’t kept us relevant. But I’m optimistic with the young guns. Golden, Montgomery ,and Peters have big tasks. But I get too optimistic this time of year. I’ve lost all objectivity. My Sooners are struggling and my Bengals. Time for both to resurrect

It's hard not to be optimistic this time of year. We all want things to improve. And this is the time of year when the words Cordell Volson and Pro Bowl appear in the same sentence.
But, I think it is safe to say:
1) We are healthier. Logan Wilson, Dax Hill, & Turner were out at the end. We were down our supposed starting DT in Rankins the whole year. OBJ was on one leg. Mims and Jenkins could only use one hand. Hubbard was done. And Cam Sample missed the whole year. Chuck Sizzle was hurt. Burton was borderline AWOL.
2) A lot of the younger guys made some strides last year. Turner & Hill before getting hurt. Jackson the last 4-5 games. Fig. Yoshi. Chase Brown.
3) A lot of guys either look improved (Burton, Sizzle, Yoshi, Ivey) or look to be improvements (Stewart, Knight, Fant, Brooks). Including coaches (Golden, Peters, Montgomery).
4) We played our best at the end of the year.
5) If the OG & safeties hold up, lookout.

Such a brutal quote from Mims: "“I’m going to be in pain for the rest of my life every day as long as I play football. But you’ve got to fight through it for the greater good of the team.”
I'm glad he has the attitude to fight through it. But "pain for the rest of my life every day as long as I play football." There is no solution for this injury for him?

I cringed when I read what he said.
However, I interpreted that to mean that he would have some sore of aches/pains like all players do throughout their careers. I hope he wasn’t specifically talking about his hand injury. That would seem odd that it couldn’t be fixed.

Lucas Patrick “ "I love running the ball more than anyone," said Patrick after practice, an Opening Day starter for three different teams before he arrived here via March's free agency period.
"But with the special players we have outside, which is a coupe of guys, and with Nine in total command, it's pretty much like explosive runs because he hands the ball off 30 yards down the field … It's going to be hard to stop when we can wear out people for eight to 12 plays and punch it in. It's going to be long, long games for defenses."
“ "Reminds me of some teams that went pretty deep in the playoffs that had chances of playing in February," said Patrick, who flipped with Cody Ford this week to work with the ones. "This team is shaping up like that. We're challenging the defense. The defense is going to learn from this. We're challenged by the fronts. This is an impressive team."

I think that sack went more on LT than LG. They stunted and Brown could get over to block Jenkins fast enough. Great stunt on the defense's part.
