Trey Hendrickson Update

Some people are loyal. Trey seems like a loyal guy and why I think in the end he will play sooner than later on the current deal or agree to current offer. I think he likes MB, likes the city and loves his fellow mates. He won't want to disappoint all of the above.

No way, if we can get rid of Geno Stone and pick up a young, Pro Bowl FS like Brian Branch, the secondary will be worlds better.

If Bengals, I would definitely do the Branch for Stone & Trey + their 2nd round. Bengals would gain 14 million in cap spce to use on Clowney or Z. Smith to replace Trey's 16 million and alos pick up Geno cap space bucks.

Lions have the cap space also.

Branch is a SS and So is Battle; they wouldn't  complement each other. (And yes I know they played together in College)

I'm not sure it matters where they line him up, he's just a damn good DB at wherever he's needed.

Quote:Overview

Plug-and-play defensive back with every ingredient necessary to become a high-performing starter early in his career. Branch has primarily handled nickel coverage at Alabama but has the range and instincts for single-high or split safety looks. He’s quick, fast and strong with the ability to match up with shifty slots, bigger possession receivers and pass-catching tight ends. He’s urgent and has a mind for the game. He takes playmaking angles into the throwing lane but does have a tendency to play it a little safe from off-man coverage. There are areas where he can improve but no real weaknesses, which could make him one of the safest picks in the draft.

Just remember the Trey stuff is the usual rumors from anonymous sources. Trey went to DC with the team so that does not support the narrative.

He has only played 16% of his career at the FS position  including College and pros.

Back to Hendrickson, Bengals have a key preseason game 2 in a few hours as starters to go most of 1st half. Taking a good look at others in 2nd half and last preseason game not that many days after tonight's game. I really think Bengals will forget about Henderson a few days and focus on rest of the team in these games. Then in a few days when preseason over, they will try to do something on Henderson. He may stay or get traded, but no way he is going to Browns, Ravens or Steelers to have him go after Burrow twice a year. Bengals were asking for a Round One in a trade, so a trade is on the table for the right offer.

As for now, Bengals have a game to focus on tonight and one a few days later. If the Bengals defense looks awful in these games, that may force them to meet Hendrickson demands. You people on here talking O Line, the biggest problem is how much the defense stinks. If this defense doesn't improve, we can all forget about play-offs. I'm hoping the D looks better tonight.

Ok, then put him at Nickle CB (where he had great success) and put Dax on deep Safety.

Dax struggled at FS though; plus another position change for him wouldn't be good for his development.

I think Trey is just a good person and doesn't want to fire the guy.

So what does everyone think is the outcome of this?

I don't like Trey missing this much of camp and practice and then trying to come in and be productive.

I know he's working out on his own, but I just don't like him being away from the team activities this long, even if he is a vet.

I think he's hurting himself and he won't get near the contract (guarantees) next offseason if he doesn't have another big year.

I wish we had already traded him because I don't like this circus this close to the season, but then we do need help on defense.

Hopefully Kris Jenkins can be the star that a lot of people think he can be and ends up as good as his old man. Maybe Golden's disruptive play calling would help overcome any decline in play by Trey.

If we sign Trey I have every confidence he'll be fully ready to roll in a couple of weeks.  And if Stewart is as advertised, and Jenkins continues his growth I think we'll finally have a solid pass rush.

Not only a pass rush, but enough beef up front and twitch from the LBs to get back to actually stopping the run, equally as important. If you can't force them to pass, the pass rush never gets a chance.

Even with Trey, we have have a lot of ifs on defense. I hope we sign him, but still need 2 or 3 from Murphy, Dax Hill, Stewart, Cam Taylor Britt, Ossai, Turner, Stone or Battle to step up now. Not baby steps, big steps.

Our defense is young, we need them to start playing like savvy vets sooner than later.

Be a Wide Receiver on offense, have the franchise QB consistently actively campaigning for you to stay, and have Ja'Marr Chase use his leverage to force a both-or-none deal?

Not sure how applicable that example is.

The highest AAV the Bengals have ever given on a multi-year deal for any defensive player in franchise history is $16.3m/yr.

That does give me a little faith that he's 30 and knows what it takes to get his body ready and knows how the game is played, as opposed to a rookie or even a young guy coming off his rookie deal that doesn't fully understand how taxing the NFL is on the body or the level of play that he needs to bring.

We do have a number of young, talented guys- Stewart, Ossai, Murphy ('23 1st rounder), Jenkins ('24 2nd rounder)- so let's hope that they all are hungry and get after the quarterback when teams are trying to go score-for-score with us!

No shot.

Bengals don't bring in guys this late to be anything more than a 1-year deal.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs

Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward.

Sorry for Party Rocking!

Risners last year deal was 2.41 million. I would like to sign a 2 year deal with him but it shouldn't be a high dollar deal. But yeah Trey would be upset not sure he'd be anymore upset he just wants a deal the majority of the league would give him.
