This defense has below average talent. People pointed to Lou and said "scheme this, scheme that". The problem is that there just isn't a ton of talent on this defense. This is mostly the same group that we trotted out last year. We just have a new coordinator and a few new faces. That's it.

It's pre-season. This is the time to screw up. This isn't necessarily indicative of things to come, but I am also not going to be surprised if this group isn't very good.

The reality that only ONE starter from last year was out there tonight is not encouraging.  Imagine wishing those that actually played were better than the starters is a pipe dream, but it's the only hope a lot of Bengals fans have

The problem is our 1st team defense is the equivalent of most teams 2nd team defense.

This is gonna be a huge stat year for Burrow. This defense won't be on the field for more than 6 plays a drive..
