RG Options

Against Philly, he whiffed hard on 1 passpro rep and 1 run rep.
He looked a little confused on who to block on 1 run away from him.
He looked late on 1 stunt and the chop block was him tripping and touching a defender, on the ground, while he was already engaged. Not every one of those miscues affected the play negatively.

I don't see a RG Volson 2.0 or a Cappa from last year, just yet.

This monday night should be a line of demarcation to whether they roll with him or look for a replacement, while still having time for the "new guy" to get reps.

Of course we have to give Patrick another chance. It was his first preseason game with us and he wasn't terrible either like you show.

The one knock I had on Patrick though was he gets injured a lot and it is happening again. Risner has to be better than Volson or Ford at RG.

It would be different if Patrick wasn't getting banged up and these 2 or another Guard besides Fairchild was impressing IMO.

Here are the 12 offensive lineman on the roster that can't play the easiest position to play, RG, on the line at an acceptable level.  Some are dinged up, but the rest are too weak, too slow, or too unskilled.  Why would anyone think the front office are the people to solve this problem?

It's in their job description--so they're technically the people that solve those types of problems (working alongside the coaches).

Whether they will do a competent job is to be determined--we'll have to wait and see.

Maybe they are waiting to bring in Risner until after training camp so our 1st round pick doesn't injure him. (insert laughing emoji)

I had assumed Risner might be a little bit of a cost even though its late as part of the reason hes still available. But he seems reasonably cheap really. I mean get him in here for depth and to be waiting in the wings.

For anyone still on Scherff train. He is officially retired.

In other AFC North news Quinshon Judkins is not being charged so he could play week 1.
