Bengals signing QB Desmond Ridder
#21
At least they are showing the FO is not completely asleep.  Two quality depth signings in Qb Ridder over Woodside (released) and DT Bryan as a rotational option. The rest are probably just camp bodies. Now get the Hendrickson and Stewart signings done ASAP.

They also brought in QBs Tyler "Snoop" Huntley and C.J. Beathard for tryouts. Desmond was the best of the bunch

I'm assuming this is for QB3 position, right? Surely they do not think Ridder is better than Browning.

During media day Dan Pitcher said specifically Browning was #2

Dunno where else to put this so I am throwing it out here. I think the Bengals should give Derick Roberson a shot, or at least bring him in as a camp body. He could probably make a case for getting onto the PS. He is 29, has some NFL experience and in 9 games in the UFL this year he had 27 tackles and 5.5 sacks. He played for the DC Defenders who also won the UFL Championship this year. Always good to have people with a winning mojo around.

No, he'll be competing for the 2-3 QB spot

He won’t be competing for QB2. He’ll be on the PS playing the part of Lamar on the scout team

Des is a great competitor, but not a good NFL QB. He has always lacked the accuracy and touch necessary for a good NLF QB. I'm not sure that is something you can practice and get that much better at. I think you either have it or you don't. With that said, his numbers are serviceable for a backup. He can win some games for you in a pinch. 8-10 as a starter on some mediocre teams, 16/14 TD to INT, 63.6% completion, and with his legs and youth it's a good pickup. I'm really surprised he didn't stick with the Raiders as a backup, though the consensus with their fans was that he sucked.
