Notes From Training Camp 2025

Patrick and Stewart were the combatants

Before we pick who is going to be QB#2, we need to see what Ridder's wife/girlfriend looks like and see if she is going to hold up to Jake's when they are in Joe's luxury box.

Either way, it would behoove this team to go out and try and get some more guard help. Could they explore a trade?

Every clip I’ve seen today has Burrow about to get blown up. So, the usual. “We like the guys we have in the building.”

Some of the homers were really touting his pass protection when we signed him, but he is constantly getting beat in the a lot of the clips from camp. Just saw one from today of Slaton beating him for what would have been a sack in a game.

I just saw that as well and was going to say the exact same thing. He got beat instantly on some of his reps in the preseason game. Not great just playing two series and I am worried counting on him this season.

If that was supposed to be a stunt, i'm not sure what #95 is doing other than trying to immitate a pinball.

I'm not sure Lucas Patrick is the answer at RG. Bengals are in a very precarious position.

rules to follow

Shemar: do not hit Joe
Lucas: do not let Shemar hit Joe

Ted calls out both sides

Remember that Patrick's PFF grades from the past few years were not while he was playing RG.
He hasn't played significant RG snaps since 2020.

2024 - 64.6 overall grade (60.3 pass block)...474 snaps at LG, 88 at C
2023 - 50.5 overall grade (40.6 pass block)...953 snaps at C
2022 - 55.9 overall grade (30.8 pass block)...154 snaps at LG, 10 at C, 105 at RG
2021 - 57.2 overall grade (67.3 pass block)...57 snaps at LG, 822 at C, 32 at RG
2020 - 64.8 overall grade (61.5 pass block)...3 snaps at LT, 220 at LG, 8 at C, 708 at RG

So he's really not been that impressive in general, but he also hasn't played much RG for like 5 years.
Dude potentially just isn't a good fit at RG, especially for what the Bengals are trying to run.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs

Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward.

Sorry for Party Rocking!

And that from the Dline that couldn't sniff the Eagles QB's.

Pretty sure that can't be true, Ocho. I have it on good authority that he has the greatest snaps-to-sacks-allowed ratio, so he's not just a starting quality player, but a great starter.   Ninja

"Cordell Volson took snaps at center on second team"

Excuse me, what now?

Hopefully, this is a sign that they're looking for some way ANY way that Volson can contribute before deciding to just cut his ass.

And Ted can not do that from the RG spot? I think he could do it just as easily from RG as the center spot.

Maybe I missed it, I have not seen 1 post saying Patrick was close to being an all pro. I believe some fell he will be much better than 2024 Cappa, but he sucked so low bar.

I like Patrick and no RG is showing major weakness in camp. The OL coach and ZT can lobby for us to go get a better RG, we have the money, but will the FO bring in Risner (but think he is a LG also) or is there a better RG option available.
