I also looked at their remaining schedule, the other day. I don’t see them playing above .500, based on their performance the 1st half.

Take back all those early season loses, that should have been wins, and we would have had a fighting chance to get a wild card game. All those games they were shut out, plus games in which they only scored 1 run.  All the 1 run loses, plus blowing games with the lead late in the game. Not scoring in 6 extra innings game, with a free runner at 2nd base. Innings streaks of not scoring any runs over multiple games.

Not a good recipe for a winning formula.

I've been seeing short articles on the Reds recent draft picks. Looks like they took a highly rated Shortstop in the 1st, and a big Pitcher in the 2nd. I also saw that they selected a power bat in the 4th. I'm not really sure what to make of their draft, as those prospects will all be several years in development before they ever get a chance at the big squad.

Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

Outside the division, they play pretty well against the good teams (Tigers, Yankees, etc). For some reason it's the mediocre to bad teams they sometimes struggle against.

Just got tix for a big group of us to go to the hated Dodgers game, July 28.

I go back to the '70s with the Reds. You youngins just don't know about the Dodgers.

Of course the reason we're going is because my nephew wants to see Ohtani. Big Grin

I also remember those days, when the Reds were in the west division with the Dodgers. Ah, the good old days, that was a rivalry.

The Reds are at 50-47 right now and there's 65 games remaining. Figuring they remain playing just above .500 ball the rest of the season (and that will be very tough with their schedule). That will put them about 83/84 win area. And all things considered, who knows how long Greene will be out? Such an inconsistent offense etc. I kinda have my doubts they reach above .500

I gonna say their best possible outcome we be like 75-78 win total.

That is cool Rfaulk. Watching Ohtani and the Dodgers should be a treat. Freddie Freeman is a stud, love this guy.

Hoping the Reds can bring back Eugenio Suarez in a trade, that guy is a stud and is on my Reds team before they lost him on my PS4 game.

Idk about the SP choice but the rest looks about right.

Danny Graves???

He has a career 3.79 ERA / 1.390 WHIP as a relief pitcher.

Sure feels like the person who made that forgot about Aroldis Chapman still being an All-Star in 2025 in his age 37 season.

Also, this might be a hot take because I know some folks treat the the BRM like a religion.... but if we're getting to just throw a random guy into the DH slot despite them not being a DH I would not have Perez as my first choice. Put Griffey Jr there (so he stays healthy) or Dunn there (so he doesn't have to field). If you could get Dunn to just only bat and not have to shuffle his 300lbs or whatever out in the sun for 13,500 innings (plus practice) he has an Ortiz-like career.

Also, it's never a consistent number of games at the break, but I wish it was more like 2019 when the All-Star break for the Reds was at 87 games, not 97 like this year. 65 games left feel more like "the last third" while 75 games left is a lot closer to a "2nd half".

Ump missed two calls in that inning and neither were the strike 3 call against Elly.

Strike 2 against McLain was Ball 2.
Ball 1 against Elly was Strike 3.

Shouldn't have been that hard to get the last out. Here we are at 4 over again. Seems to be the brick wall we can't knock down.
