Worse draft in the Burrow Era
#41
(3 hours ago)Synric Wrote: Stewart gives the Bengals a base end opposite of Trey that can handle wide and tight alignments. Even though they are gonna be a 425 defense you can see where they can run odd fronts with Stewart having the size to handle double teams from a Tackle/TE as a 5t.

You mentioned Safety on Day 2? It's possible but I think they are going to be looking for a Penetrating 3T (& a guard of course). I would also like to see them add one another pass rusher Day 3 maybe even a Tweener like Collin Oliver or Josaiah Stewart to give teams different rush looks.

I think a safety on day 2 is almost a slam dunk. If I had to guess a position that slides it's DT. DT you start asking is anyone you get now really a better prospect then the two you took one day 2 last year? I am not sure if they are at this point, I do like TJ Sanders but we will see. I think they were intrigued with some of the guys at the top but not sure they are going to layer more depth in at DT with like prospect. I also think they will want to do something on the backend today.

Guard...I think they have a plan for a FA if today doesn't fall right so I really don't think they are stressing there.

Stewart is 21 years old, turning 22 in November.
So he's still young too, but not as young as Hunter was coming into the league.

I have far more concern with dudes who are 24-25. There usually isn't much more growth that happens for them.

Yeah, he definitely still has time to put it together.

Xavier Watts & Nick Emmanwori are probably the only two safeties high enough on their board at #49.

I'm hoping for a WR, CB, Edge run with maybe a couple more QBs so the Bengals can get their choice of the Guards or Watts.

Edit: As for DT I'm hoping they add someone with a different skill set than everyone else in the room. Omar Norman-Lott if he's there at #81 is one of my guys. He's a 5 year player but never had more than 290 snaps in a season. Dude does one thing rush the passer.

Steelers took Harmon. Cowboys took Banks. Falcons took two great edge rushers, and Philly got Campbell.

I hate it here.

Way to solidify that your opinion is worth jack. I'm not a fan of the pick either, but "worst draft in the Burrow era" after 1 draft pick? GFTOH

I really like Watts to give us a true center fielder that we have missed since Bates.

They did not.  FFS I was watching the ABC coverage last night and they said nothing more than we have said here.  Puts on pressure constantly, athletic freak, low sack numbers, bit of a project.

That's not blasting.  just because they didn't sploog all over the pick like some, didn't mean they blasted it.

I see him closer to Reggie Nelson. More of a split field guy than true center fielder but with better than average range and high playmaking instincts.

Andrew Mukuba is my Jessie Bates prospect if he was just slightly bigger.

The pick was better than the OP's grammar.

Worst, not worse.

Worse is for comparing two things. This was worse than that. Or, X was bad,,but Y was worse.

Worst is for stating how bad something compated to everything else. Nothing is worse than Y, Y is the worst.

Apologies for my Grammar Nazi post, I hate them when I mess up. But that one is a pet peeve.

Dan Patrick has an overreaction Monday during the season. The OP would fit right in. Can we see how the rest of the draft goes?

2) you fail to mention the 40 pressures that were inches away from a sack
3)physically he is a beast ..he has improved every year..is quick to the quarterback and he might just flourish in the NFL

Hey, an inch or two can make all the difference.
That's what my wife tells me anyway.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs

Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward.

Sorry for Party Rocking!

Too early for the "worst" draft, but so far... nothing to get excited about and more to be a bit worried. Especially for a 1st round pick, since they are typically the easier picks.

The only thing that amazed me about Lou was that he kept his job as long as he did. His defenses were mediocre on their best days.
