I don't know if I've ever posted here, but I was reading a book, and the characters had a cassoulet. It sounded really good, and something I could enjoy making, but I really want to do it right. I am not a great cook by any means, but every once in a while I like to try something new. I've made a sauerbraten, a real bolognese, a jambalaya etc. I think this is my biggest undertaking yet. Anyone ever made one?
This is the recipe I've been pondering.

You can go to live in France, but you cannot become a Frenchman. You can go to live in Germany or Turkey or Japan, but you cannot become a German, a Turk, or a Japanese. But anyone, from any corner of the Earth, can come to live in America and become an American
