I think it is saying that they are THE university in Ohio. At least that’s how I’ve always thought of it.
Btw...my daughter hates the THE. I write that way to be an ass. Ive always been an OSU fan, but I don’t really like to associate with a lot of them. As bad as Steelers fans.
