They are nor forcced to place it equally each year, they could do 5million each year toeards cap, they could do zero towards cap in 2025 and then do 5 million year 2 and 10 million year 3. There are many ways the team can structure a signing or other bonuses.
But, they would be kicking the can down the road and will impact future years cap space.
It's my understanding the Bengals do not like to do this, which is why they do not like to give much guaranteed money.
Instead, they try to say, "Well we usually keep people either through entire contract or with just 1 year left on their contract, so all but the last year is BASICALLY guaranteed....Right??"
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs
Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward.
