They kind of lucked into Burrow and Chase. Their goal was to hire Taylor and have him revamp the team around Dalton with a modern offense, but it went so bad that they lucked into Burrow. Then, they un-Bengal-like signed a bunch of free agents Bell, Reader, Hendrickson that all hit. And they had draft picks like Bates that hit. But, most of those guys are gone and they haven't replaced their production...especially on defense.
I agree mostly. But the roster was awful when Zac took over. The culture worse. But the free agent signings did hit and aren’t now. Neither are the draft picks. The bottom line what is holding this team back is the ownership. Running a profitable team and guarding that philosophy tightly comes before winning. It’s just plain old Midwestern Conservatism.
Romo “ so impressed with Zac ...1 of the best in the NFL… they are just fundamentally sound. Taylor the best winning % in the Playoffs of current coaches. Joe Burrow” Zac is the best head coach in the NFL & that gives me a lot of confidence." Taylor led the Bengals to their first playoff win since 1990, ending the longest active drought in the four major North American sports, en and appeared in Super Bowl LVI, the first since 1988.
