They hope to wear you down and you either just pay the bill yourself, or you just go away. Your go to, after the appeals, is to file a complaint with the State Insurance Commission. (You can do this online) Humana refused to pay my closing doctor's bill for 4K for over two years, and I was being threatened with collections. I wasn't going to pay it, because it was emergent surgery, I was in an In Network Hospital with an In Network thoracic surgeon, and the closing surgeon was only out of network one day due to clerical error (the day I had surgery)I filed the complaint with the commission, and it was paid, along with an apology letter stating it was overlooked and should have been paid day one, and please do not dock our rating. The insurance companies are scared to death of the Commission, because if they get dinged enough, they can be banned from selling any insurance in Kentucky.
