The Bengals are unique in that the coaching staff has a lot of impact in the draft. If you look Hobby, Pollack, and Bettcher. Bettcher and Lou were tight and Golden was going to run that. Pollack? Hobby? We’ve not recruited there well or even hit much in the portal. But Duke said we’ve got to have rookies play now around the draft. Had to be an issue with Lou slow playing some.
Either way, it's on Zac now that they've pushed Lou to the side.
If you get more of the same with someone new, it's probably not the person's fault much that you replaced. It's probably more of a problem with the folks who have still stuck around.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs
Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward.
