I think it means his rookie season is all but a wash. At least early in the season. Rookies who miss spring and are already considered projects typically have stunted growth. I think a slow start even with training camp reps should be expected.
That's exactly what it means and it gives the 'Shemar hypers' a built in reason why he will produce nothing this year and next year will be his 'rookie year'.
