If you support the Bengals front office...in pretty much anything...but specifically in contract negotiations--with the long history they have of being cheap--and this cannot be disputed in the least, over a player like Trey who has gone out and busted his ass to get the QB on the ground, and who has actually produced very good numbers in this regard, you need to have your head examined because you're not very smart.
Straight up. You're not very smart.
One side swindles and pinches and cheaps out on everything player realted--one guy goes out and does his job and you choose the cheapskates.
Honestly, i don't give two shits what the numbers are Trey is looking for. If it comes down to FO or Player, i'm picking player every time because i'm smart enough to look at this organization's history and see mountains of evidence that they're just not very good at building a championship team but they're experts at making money.
But you keep doing you and working hard at getting that Fan of the Year nomination.
It's as simple as this.
If Trey had signed his contract and was in the last year of it, and was asking now for more money, that would be one thing. But, he signed his 60 million-dollar deal, then wasn't happy with it, so he wanted an extension and a raise. The Bengals gave it to him. Then he decided he wasn't happy with that, and requested another deal, even though he wasn't even eligible. Now he wants yet another deal. The Bengals offered him a 12 million dollar raise they did not have to, and he told them to "F" themselves, he wasn't playing. Just because you don't like the way the front office does business, that doesn't mean the player automatically right. His history says he's never going to be happy unless he's making Miles Garrett money, and unfortunately for him he's on the back end of 30 and is not going to get another huge deal anywhere. He made his bed. He wants a King Size bed and his agent got him a Queen size. He should be mad at his agent. At this point he has gone from one of my favorite players to a player I'm sick of hearing about. And with the Bengals luck, if they did something stupid like giving him 35 million per on a multi-year deal with guarantees, he'd come up hurt.
