Hendrickson is saying that his understanding was that if he continued to play at the level he has, an extension would happen.

The team has been pushing a shorter deal “pretty hard.”

Hendrickson said a long term contract with guarantees is a sign of mutual respect and lets him be able to stop negotiating every offseason.

No direct answer on if he’d play without a new deal.

This is all marketing 101 by going public. He is attempting to win the PR battle knowing the team will likely say little. I will always look at from both sides, I understand Trey's career is windiing down and he wants one last big pay day. I understand the team is paying him close to 20 million in 2025 if you factor in the contract upfront bonus. That is well believe his market value.

The answer is usually somewhere in the middle, but it seems Trey has no intention of giving at all.
