"This Guy Is Violent"- Micah Parsons On Stewart!

He says that he plays so fast and the lack of college stats doesn't bother him because he only had 6.5 sacks in college.

Except Parsons accumulated 6.5 sacks in 2 seasons - 26 games.
Stewart was 4.5 sacks in 3 seasons - 37 games.
Parsons' final season in college had 5.0 sacks, which I'm sure helped in his eval. They saw the jump from 1.5 to 5.0.

Stewart is more of a project than Parsons, but Parsons also gets used properly in the NFL, playing from LB position.

Stewart get after the QB. No one is doubting that.
The concern is getting pressure and finishing with a sack are two different things.
You expect that a 1st round DE taken in the Top 20 should get plenty of sacks year after year.
You aren't necessarily taking a guy in Rd 1 just to get close but no cigar when it comes to rushing the passer.

I'd like to hope Montgomery can help refine Stewart to make him an animal, but I have a feeling he'll end up more like Jadeveon Clowney, who averaged 7 sacks a season.
It made sense though why Clowney went so early that draft because he did have college production - 24 sacks in 3 seasons (36 games).

If Stewart does end up having ~7 sacks a season in his career, will people consider that too early to have taken the guy?
I'd argue Bengals have gotten that type of production out of plenty of Day 2 DEs including Dunlap and Hubbard.
They didn't have (quite) the athletic ceiling of Stewart though, but when it comes down to it, Pro Bowls, All Pros, and HOF are much more determined by production than traits.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs

Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward.

Sorry for Party Rocking!
