Steer I just can't pull the plug on yet. You gotta remember for the bulk of 2023 he was arguably our best hitter for most of the season! And 2024 wasn't awful cept for average. Just pitchers not knowing him well and rookie luck?
CES I'm slowly losing faith in, can he turn it around? I dunno
But like you say the good news: ELLY 17 runs 5 HR's 22 RBI's but damn the 35 strike outs. He's at or very near the top of MLB. Friedl being a very good table setter. I heard them say today he had reached base safely 16 times in last couple series and we only score 1 run from it.![]()
Lux batting .316 with 12 RNI's kinda had some clutch hits for us. .837 OPS. Hays batting .361, Marte .310 (can he keep it up?) bone head got thrown out rounding 3rd on ground ball in infield. Wynns on fire !! batting .500 with 11 RBI's including 2 today.
There's stuff to be optimistic about, come on Mc Clain get back in the saddle.
I originally had confidence in Steer because of 2023, but now I'm starting to think 2023 is more the fluke. Aside from 2023, he's never had above a .225 BA.
With 2022 only playing 28 games, 2023 was pretty much his rookie year in the bigs.
It's possible with that additional tape, teams figured out how to better attack him last year and this year, and he hasn't been able to adjust.
CES along the same lines as Steer - solid in 2023 his debut season in the bigs, but since then he's been sub-.200.
I know injuries play a part, but you can't keep running someone out there just to knock the rust off or get back from injury like that.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs
Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward.
