The 2025 Bengals Rosters Thread: Coaches & Players

With 2 guys who are more NT types and 2 who are more DT/3T types and guy or two who can switch back & forth (Hill). Or maybe an end who can play some 3T for more cover (Sample).

Plus, we had a ton of injuries there last year. I doubtcwe go light at DT. Butcthere are guys who can play some DT and some edge: Robinson, Burch, etc. We could snag one in the draft

Maybe I'm more old school, but I think of the late 2000's and early 2010's when Bengals ran out there with Atkins, Peko, Sims, and typically one other dude officially as DTs, but then they had a nickel DT like Rucker or Fanene that helped boost pass rush but play base DE as well. And those DTs like Peko are being subbed out for the nickel DT while the UT like Atkins is playing a heavy majority of snaps.

I still think that model can work, if they can get a DT who can play that much and do it well like Atkins did.

You mention Sample, which I always thought would fit well in a Rucker/Fanene role, but they haven't seemed to really try it (or maybe he's been so frequently injured I haven't noticed them trying when he was in there).
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs

Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward.

Sorry for Party Rocking!
