Bengals have the $$ to get Risner or Hernandez or some other veteran that folks like you and I would consider upgrades over the likes of Volson, Ford, and Patrick.
The guaranteed wouldn't be more than $2 mill even if being paid on a $4 mill, 1 year contract in the event they do get cut.
Maybe these vets have just decided not to try to sign so close to the draft though and they want to wait until after draft for those teams who may have missed out on a certain position, thus driving up the price for certain available FAs.
Maybe your last point is the reason, because yeah, right now we could have Risner in house unless he is waiting, but Risner said directly he
would love to play for the Bengals so maybe it is the Bengals that are waiting which I also do not get. Hernandez is coming off an ACL tear,
so he probably won't even be able to practice until the start of the season like Luvnit said.
