Taking one high may also mean they cut Moss and use his cap savings to shore up another area, like G with Dalton Rusher or S with Justin Simmons.
FWIW, Brown got 686 offensive snaps last year.
I was saying 500+ because I was already factoring in some decline.
I would be shocked (disappointed?) if he was reduced down close to 400.
I guess what I am more expecting is any RB rookie to be more in a true backup role like we've seen with RBs in years past when Mixon and Moss were the starters.
2023 - Mixon played 70% of the offensive snaps.
2024 - Moss played 62% of the offensive snaps before he went out to injury, >65% the first month of the season.
So what I expect is Brown to get 60-70% of the offensive snaps (600+).
I expect Perine to get ~20% of the snaps primarily for his role as a pass blocker (around 200).
I am expecting any rookie RB to get ~200 snaps and end up having only ~50-100 touches and putting up just around 300-400 YFS, and a plan for that RB to get more touches after Perine is no longer on the team.
Maybe that changes if they are really considering a RB in the middle rounds and really do look to have Brown around 400-500 snaps, rookie RB to have 300+ snaps, and Perine filling out the rest. I'm just skeptical based on previous usage of RBs in the Taylor era.
I feel like if Taylor really wanted to run an offense with more of a RBBC, he would have by now.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs
Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward.
