At least now there's a greater chance of something exciting to happen, be it a big return, a great tackle, possible turnover. Anything was better than that boring 5 seconds of basically dead air sandwiched between egregious TV timeouts that we had with all of the touchbacks.

Nothing wrong with finding a way to put some of the risk/reward value back into special teams plays. A great opportunity for back of the roster guys to do something impactful to help their team. Excitement = Drama = More people staying in their chairs to watch the play.

I get what they are trying to do with it.   Like i said the dynamic kickoff wasn't so dynamic last year so they NFL made the change to try to force the issue more.  I just feel like spotting a touchback at the 35 gives the offense too much of an advantage. Yes I know the idea is to discourage that and force the kicker to try and put the ball between the 20 and end zone.  I guess if teams continue to kick into or out of the end zone they'll move it to the 40 next year.   Tongue
