It was a strange signing.  This team has been starving for a consistent outfield power bat since Castellanos left.  They've gone heavy on infield talent in drafts and in trades.  A team with such reluctance to spend opting for him rather than OF help seems unwise and rudderless.  

Martinez confuses me as well.  He's a fine player and might be my favorite singing of theirs in recent years.  Even so, is he worth 20 plus mil with needs elsewhere?  

Between those 2, that's more than enough to get a power bat in the OF.
