Batman is a an automatic franchise.  Marvel made a lot of fun movies about many characters before they lost their way.  DC just makes new Batman movies to remain relevant while the rest of their properties flounder.  People eat it up every time.  Even though Marvel is still the more respected comic label in terms of the general public, I'd argue that Batman is the most bankable character in all of comics.  

So yeah, I think the investment should be a good one for him.
