It’s no exaggeration to say that the Batmobile is perhaps the most iconic fictional vehicle ever created in modern history. Please fight us if you disagree, our inboxes are open. Despite its origins in comics, expert engineers and production designers have managed to make “real” versions of the Batmobile for live-action films. Now, for the first time, you can actually buy one that isn't a prop.



Warner Bros Discovery teamed up with Relevance International and Action Vehicle Engineering to produce a limited run of 1:1-scale, real "Tumbler" Batmobiles for sale. We’re just as surprised to have written that sentence as you are to read it. All the daydreams about having your very own Tumbler are about to come true, that is if you have a lot of money and are ok with a big caveat.


For starters, the vehicles are not street-legal. So, we wouldn’t take it out for a night drive unless you actually want to recreate the police chase scene from Batman Begins. Second, only ten examples will be produced—each with a price tag of $2.99 million. Which means by the time you read this, the Tumbler may already be sold out, and to people with far more money than you have.

Financial obstacles aside, this is legitimately the real deal. Like the stunt version used in the films, this Tumbler is powered by a General Motors–sourced 6.2-liter LS3 V-8 with 525 hp and 486 lb ft of torque. The LS3 is mated to a GM 4L85-E transmission, and manual control is possible with the included paddle shifters.

Everything is built on a steel tube frame with body panel materials made from Kevlar, carbon fiber, sheet metal, and fiberglass. Just like the Tumbler in the film, this version features flap actuators, a jet "engine" (only to simulate the flames), and even a smoke screen delivery system. Those features are probably just a few of many reasons why this thing isn’t street legal—and, well, can you see the turn signals?—but that doesn’t make it any less cool. Also yes, it does come in black.


The interior of the Tumbler is designed to look as close to the film version as possible, however customers can customize the interior if they want, including left hand or right hand steering. Though, if it were us, we would keep it as authentic as possible.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like there is a Bat pod cycle hidden in the front axle, but considering what Action Vehicle Engineering has pulled off with the rest of the Tumbler, we can let that slide. For now, we’re crossing our fingers that some of the other iconic Batmobiles will get the same made-real treatment as the Tumbler.
