From the sources I spoke with about Ja'Marr Chase's hip injury, the reason the timeline is so up in the air regarding his return is that the team hopes because of his physical makeup, Ja'Marr's hip will heal faster than the average person.

Whether he goes on IR will depend on the exact nature of the injury which, no doubt, will not be disclosed.  If the docs believe he could possibly return in 4 weeks or sooner, I’m guessing they won’t use IR and see how he progresses. In any event, thinking he’s probably out until after the bye.
