I think our chances at a title take a huge hit without Trey even if Stewart is the real deal. Still, as things stand, RG is an even bigger problem. They lack both talent AND depth. They almost have to do something. If you could turn Trey into a resolution to the OG problem, then it's better than nothing.
I'm so sick of this crap.
It feels like ownership is mocking Burrow. You want to publicly force our hand to sign your friends? We'll show you. Good luck succeeding with a bad OL and no impact defensive player.
I put the chances of 9 trying to force his way out of Cincinnati after this season at about 32 percent if Trey leaves. 50 if he leaves and it's an obviously negative impact on the defense.
We need 2 DE’s that can pressure and sack the QB, or we are right back where we were last year. It’s Trey or nothing.

The Bengals organization doesnt talk to the media about these things. I would imagine Trey is frustrated and its coming from his agent

I know. If I was gonna bet I would say they still end up coming to an agreement. This news just hit me the wrong way. The season is closing in and im hoping for a guard signing ontop of Trey and this was the exact opposite news to hear. This may have been leaked by Treys team for all we know.

If we don’t re-sign Trey, we’re not making the playoffs. Without him we’d be relying on too many question marks (like Murphy making miracles and becoming decent, Stewart winning Defensive Rookie of the Year, and Ossai staying healthy).

I would bet the Bengals would agree to guarantee Trey 2 years on a 3 year extension. I think Trey wants 3 years guaranteed.
Not sure why some people want Shaq Mason signed. The guy will be 32 years old in 11 days and gave up 8 sacks last year which ranked him at 135 out of 136 guards tied with Alex Cappa. This is the guy we should bring in to protect Burrow's right side? I just dont see how Mason helps make the RG position any better.
Justin Simmons like Shaq Mason will turn 32 this year. He is coming off a season where he graded out as 114 of 171 safeties. Atlanta fans think he was bad to mediocre last year. Im not sure bringing in Simmons helps much especially being another year older.

I disagee. It may happen, but you are assuming Trey sits out the entire year, I say no way he loses 16 million dollars and a year of service. They don't need for him to resign to have him play in 2025 in my opinion, it is a matter of when he comes back and not if. Of course, I may be wrong, it would not be the first time.
As for the DE group with no Trey, yep one or more need to step up. But if they use 2 to replace him versus one taking all of his snaps, then if the 2 could combine for 8 sacks, then we are down 9 from 2024 and likely better run defenders than Trey. Then if Ossai can get 8 sacks, itis 2 more than 2024. Then if our DT's can pick up 3 sacks, before line as a team we are close to the 2024 sack totals.
Plus, in my opinion at most Trey sits 4 games, so he is back and motivated to be great the last 13 and the playoffs to try and get one more huge contract. Maybe the Bengals don't extend Trey, but put in writing they will not franchise him in 2026.
Please use 2025 free agency to fix the trenches, not the draft!!!!!!!!

The goal should be to make the team better. Trading Trey accomplishes the opposite.
Tells me that the Bengals aren't serious.

I think if the Bengals offered Trey 2 years guaranteed he would accept. I think Goodberry is under the assumption they are sticking to 1 year. But even if hes talking at the 2 years I dont see him saying no if they offer him an olive branch and give him some of the 3rd year. It just seems to close to let it get snagged.
Im all for Risner haven't looked into Mason much but a 76 pass pro sounds just fine to me with Risner.
Simmons again I haven't looked into much but we are razor thin all over the secondary any kind of veteran depth would be a plus right now.

Let it be poor business. Give him the money. Wasted money on plenty of bums over the years, this guy actually has a chance to continue to be good.

I doubt the guaranteed money is about age and thinking he'll sick in Year 3.
Its likely more about writing out a big check after doing Burrow, Chase, and Tee.
And, what's to stop Trey from wanting a new contract next summer?

Aren't we getting a little late in the offseason to be looking to sign starting Guards?
Roster has been out there the whole time. They signed Patrick instead.

We're likely a fringe playoff team with him. Without him, we might be worst defense in NFL. There's legit no proven pass rushers. And if you give QBs time, they'll beat you.

What are we doing if we're a fringe playoff team with Trey, Burrow can't do it all. This smells like classic Mike Brown - QB, WR, RB and sell the tickets. Mike Brown's formula has never worked so he was surprised that we got a QB good enough that could make it the SB accidentally.
In hindsight should we just have had Burrow + Chase and a defense instead of this?
Tee and Trey had a lot of market value if they had traded them earlier. Might have had a better defense and that's what Burrow needs. Bengals hold onto assets too long.

Have you been paying attention? Patrick dont look too good. Adding talent late is what good teams do. So I'd say its about that trying to be a good team.

I now have Hendrickson fatigue. Absent real news, I just don't give a flying..
Not a reflection of y'all, but for right now I'm just done.
I was going to add a "I don't care" meme, but I can't be bothered.

Yeah when you think about the teams that would want him. Ready to win now, plenty of cap space and in need of a pass rusher. We seem to fit all the requirements.

The Bengals have spent a bunch of draft picks on defense. They should be much better this year with Golden. Right?

They just broke the bank to sign "his" WRs long term, and you think there's a 50% chance he tries to leave if we don't extend Trey?
