Tycen Anderson
#1
As the President of the Tycen Anderson Fan Club, I was encouraged by his performance in PS week 1.  (Cue the weak competition arguement)

Tycen has never looked bad...in a game...in my eyes.  Never makes the wrong assignment, never whiffs on a tackle (Geno Stone), and never has stupid penalties.

He had a PFF grade of 76 in PS1, with a borderline elite 87 in tackling.  I know he is a special teams ace, but I am really hoping that he gets a shot with the ones and Jordan Battle in this game.  His biggest issue has been health.  He had a two INT preseason game in 2023 against the Packers with one of them going for a pick-6.

I don't think his contributions on special teams should prevent him from getting a shot to start.  Or at the very least, be one of the first options off the bench.

Remember, this is the same team that was starting Zach Moss over Chase Brown until an injury got Brown more of a workload.

Thoughts?

I am a fan of his speed 4.3 and his tackling he does seem to show up in preseason games.

He deserves a shot he has been a good special teams guy and has been on the team for years so he has earned his shot with the first string in preseason.

Well, with Stone out, he should get a shot next to Battle. He appears agead of Anthony & Jules.

But he has all of 1 snap in a real game on defense.

Now, we kept 5 safeties last year, Stone, Battle, Bell, Anderson, and Anthony. Anderson played the least on D.

His shot is now. But an inexperienced FS gives me the willies.

Always liked Tycen myself SHRacer. He was a stud ST'er last year, but the coaches wouldn't give him a shot at FS even when Geno sucked.

Then Tycen got burnt a bit in OTA's so I am taking a pause until he impresses a bit more. But Tycen could be better than Geno Stone easy IMO.

But to see the coaches start Tycen over Geno would surprise me no matter how he played.

Im also a Tycen fan. His preseason breakdowns always seem to show that he plays with the proper leverage. He may shine even more in Goldens scheme where as im told you should always have a clear answer what your assignment is supposed to be.

I guess Tyson has a big fan base, me included! I think he needs reps and he could find himself pushing Stone. He is a ST Demon too!

Were you a Lance Moore fan? I believe that was his name. Drew Brees of all the QBs I've watched he was the best at lifting up the talent around him.

4.3 speed is a trait that cannot be developed. You and I were both in awe over his college highlight reel. The dude just knows how to make plays. Let's just hope that he's learned and adapted enough to the pro game that he can actually step up and claim a spot.

Yep…he was excellent at Toledo.  Kid could catch anything.  Played with Gradkowski as QB who was a Bengal for a short period during Marvin’s tenure as coach.  Toledo has produced good NFL players over the years.

To me that was alot of there scheme as well though. Those guys thrived on those short routes.
A guy like Jimmy Graham was unstoppable with the Saints. He leaves and is basically a nobody.

I'm surprised he hasn't gotten more playing time on defense. Especially covering TEs and big slots.

Dude is a huge safety at 6-2,210, with 33 inch arms. Also quite Athletic with a 4.3 40 and .6.64 3 cone.
