It worked out pretty good.
Given our track record with OL I’m not holding my breath. They haven’t hit on a day 3 pick since Boling. That was 14 years ago at this point.

WHY is he 1-11?
Surely it's not because the best player on the team is rarely healthy enough to be an impact player in those first couple of weeks. Right?
This thing is pretty simple, people want to overcomplicate it.
One big reason that the Zac Taylor led teams have been so slow out of the gate could be attributed to the history of Charmin Soft training camps and lack of preseason action by most of the starting lineup.
Even when Burrow has been injured, the rest of the offense, the OL in particular could have really used those live reps to get on the same page. Then maybe, just maybe they could come out on opening day and act like they've played together a time or two.

Hell of a game to be a part of. 2014, also a down year for OU. Paul Dawson (remember him Bengals fans?) pick 6 and then stuffing Perine on 4th down to end it was a great game too. That 2014 TCU team should have played for a Natty.
Otherwise, y'all mostly owned us. UT OTOH. We were their daddy for the entirety of our B12 stay.
2015 when Gary went for 2 on the Road when both Baker and Boykin were hurt was an all time what could have been. TCU wins that and they are in the CFP.
2008 with Sophomore Dalton vs Senior Sam Bradford. Y'all SPANKED us. I was on that team too.
But yeah, GP was a great defensive mind. Truly a genius. I legit still have nightmares about him MF'ing me in practice.
BTW don’t know if you know this but the biggest TCU guy on the planet is Elliott Hill. He’s the President of Nike. An old friend of mine 30 years ago. Haven’t talked to him in years.

Perhaps it feeds into your point. But I think we need to gameplan week 1 to help Burrow. Maybe just make the run game a point of emphasis to take pressure off of him.

Tee said there was a lot more communication between the dbs and WRs than in the past. Not just trash talking but teaching and learning moments. They are looking to discover each player’s “tells” that allow the other side to discern their movements and thus gain an advantage.
It is little things lie this that should pay dividends during the season.

After just watching some camp breakdowns. Im concerned. Rivers played LT and LG in college. They have him covering RT for Mims and he is bad on that side. Also I was bit concerned Patrick seems to be getting handed the starting spot and I guess Ford has looked bad maybe not a shocker. We really need to get some more talent in the building. Our depth is gonna really come back to bite us.

I don’t think it’s as bad as you think. But be honest you have been in a half full mode for quite some time. I get it.

Half full is the optimistic mind set. But the clips were from the last few practices and myles Murphy was pretty much running the arch uncontested against rivers on the right side. He can't be our plan as backup on that side especially with Mims missing time like he has. I wasn't aware but there has been rumblings that Ford hasn't looked good and Patrick being inserted with the 1s whenever he is available seems to point to the team agreeing. In his very limited time here Patrick has missed some time so if at some point we have Ford and Rivers on the right side in the season it may be worse than I fear.

In order to establish a solid rushing attack the OL needs to get into a rhythm, it takes a lot of reps to get orchestrated blocking sequences into muscle memory. With the pass heavy offense that the Bengals run, I just don't see Zac and company sacrificing the percentage of practice and game reps to allow that run blocking to fully develop. I mean, yes it would definitely make the team more effective overall, but when they have over half a billion invested in the QB and top two WRs it just isn't likely to happen.
