I hope I am very wrong, but very long recovery for a knee injury in 2025 as they have made huge strides on knee reconstruction last 15 years or so.

I’ve not heard.

He loved Cincy. Joe’s big issue is temper. Great teammate. No he’s not the brightest

Paul Dehner Jr mentioned the team wants him to start working on pushing through the pain of certain injuries.

Driving home through the mountains yesterday afternoon, I heard a sports report talking about Gesicki having a hamstring injury. Any news on that? (I've been offline since Friday morning)

nothing yet...hopefully Zac will talk to the media after practice.  Last night it didn't seem major...he stayed on the sidelines, no trainers, and walked to the locker room at the end of practice...but it's a hamstring and he's a receiver

Good thing that they did sign Fant, obviously a different skill set than Gesicki, but a true starting caliber TE in case something like this comes up.

media has a (joking) bet going on when Ja'Marr does more than just throw a ball at the DBs.

There's that 1-yard sweep Chase is known for.

If they roster 6 wide receivers Williams makes the team. If they take only 5, Williams better show something in the return game to displace Jones

we haven't had a coach talk about one of our 1st round picks like this in TC since Ja'Marr, and even then, the media had us freaked out about a few drops

I thought he did a decent job on punts last year, but Jones can do kickoffs as well.

The RB4 v WR6 v TE5 v OL10 v DL 10/11 v LB6 v CB6 choices are the hardest to predict. Not just who but which spots.

Lou saying they are gonna play a lot of guys on the back end makes me think 6 CBs are a near lock. Or maybe he just means he likes a lot of the gyys further down the depth chart: Fig, Ivey, Burks, Carter, etc. Lou had more defined roles: boundary & slot. Each guy had a backup. Golden wants more flexibility. Maybe you get away with 5 if both of the backups can both cover both spots.

At WR, my initial thoughts were with Gesicki + Hudson (and now Fant), you didn't need a 6th WR because 2 of the TEs were actually more slots.

But Williams is a much different kind of slot than Gesicki. And one that we don't necessarily have elsewhere.

If Mins can play and Patrick is your RG, I think 9 OL becomes much more likely.

I was currently projecting 11 DL, with Bryan being the 5th DT/3rd 3T, but if we think Stewart & Sample can both be swing DE/DTs, then a 3rd DT who is more of a pass rusher might not be needed.

4 DEs: Hendrickson, Ossai, Murphy, C. Johnson
4 NT/DT: Slaton, Hill, Jackson, Jenkins
2 swing guys: Stewart, Sample

Hill is the 3rd NT type if needed.

Anyway, I am getting more skeptical of 11 DL by the day, and liking Williams to scoop that spot up.

First off, I am both thrilled and relieved that Coach Golden thinks that highly of Shemar Stewart this early in the game. It really speaks volumes of what Coach knows compared to a guy like me. Secondly, it really gives me hope to be one of the many with egg on their faces for not liking the pick from the get-go. I guess the contract holdout/dispute didn't really help, but he's on the field now and apparently making his presence well known. That's a huge win for the Bengals Defense.
