Quote:“I met with President Trump two weeks ago ... and one of the topics was Pete Rose, but I’m not going beyond that,” Manfred said at the time. “He’s said what he said publicly. I’m not going beyond that in terms of what the back and forth was.”

It will not be up to the writers to vote him in, but rather a committee of 16 players. He would need 75 percent of the vote. One of the players on the committee is Tony Perez.

He should be in the HoF, but they both should stay on the permanently ineligible list. That list isn't a HoF eligibility list and I like the looming threat of eternal banishment from baseball. It's a strong threat.

Manfred continuing to do his best to make the punishment for cheating less and less as part of his ongoing efforts to ruin baseball. Started with the Astros and their ill gotten "piece of metal" getting a "naughty naughty" and slap on the wrist.. and followed with spidertack.

I'm split on this subject. The gambling issue is one thing, but the allegations of chasing (very) underaged girls is a tough one to get past. I'd like to think that he never participated in those kinds of activities, but Pete had real issues with telling the truth that are well-established.

Yeah, I get that in an old school mindset(I'm there most of the time), but in today's society, gambling is not just a Vegas or Atlantic City kind of thing.
