Vegas Odds For The Season
#1
I'm already looking at Vegas odds for the upcoming season because, with an improved offensive line, I like our chances at the Super Bowl, Burrow for MVP, Chase for OPOTY, the Triple Crown, and a few other bets. I think we can outscore anyone with a little protection for Burrow, and an improved defense only strengthens my beliefs.

We're currently tied with the Commanders for the seventh-best odds to win the Super Bowl at 16-1. Betting a hundred dollars wins you sixteen hundred....... I like those odds.

Burrow is tied with Mahomes at +750, which I have faith in him, but it will be tough to beat a media favorite in Mahomes unless Burrow has a big season, which is possible.

If our offensive line ends up being good, I think he's a lock for MVP because he could have won last season if we had made the playoffs.

Stewart is tied for seventh in defensive rookie of the year odds at +1,600, which wouldn't be a bad bet because hopefully Montgomery can at least coach him to be able to play with a little more control and finish plays with sacks, which I've argued that sometimes pressures are better than sacks because they lead to rushed/bad throws and turnovers.

We're +180 to win the division, which isn't a bad bet but I don't think it's that good of a bet just because the return's not too big.

I'll probably go over to Hard Rock downtown at some point to place bets and I might place some on Fanduel just because I was watching the Derby yesterday with a girl friend (smoking hot!) and I put in a deposit so we could place some bets but we couldn't get them in on time, so I have money in that account.

What bets do you like and are you going to place any?

Only one WR has ever had the triple crown more than once, and he did it because everyone else was serving in WW2.

Chase and Burrow are that good though, and Chase had over a hundred yards more than the player in second, four more TDs than the player with the second-most (and had eight more than the players in ninth), and had twelve more receptions than the player in second at 127, with only nine players having more than a hundred receptions.

Burrow also took the fourth-most sacks and had the most pressures in the league, so just think about when he has protection.

At +1,600, putting $100 on Stewart might not be a bad idea.

Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

First off. Don't bet anything I suggest. Ha. Just a hunch.

I would go under on the Chiefs 11 1/2 wins.

Forgot to mention that also no HC/QB duo in NFL history have ever won a SB together if they didn't do it in their first 5 years together.

You're making a lot of never-ever and only-once-because-of-WW2 bets. Good luck.

We've also never won a Super Bowl, so we're going to be doing a lot of first time things.

Rock On

Your argument against Chase is "it has never been done before," but the writing is on the wall. We had the 27th graded final pass blocking ranking last season, which that should be greatly improved, meaning that Chase's and Burrow's chances for repeating the Triple Crown and winning the MVP should be pretty good.

I've seen this mentioned a few times, and it means little to me. But got me to wondering how many non-Bengal combos that met such criteria didn't.

There's probably a lot more early in the Super Bowl era, and perhaps a couple where the QB wasn't the full-time starter. Off the top of my head, I'd say:

Marino-Shula

Kelly-Levy

Tarkington-Grant

True a lot of pairings break up after 4-5 years rather than continuing to struggle away because 6 years is a large portion of an NFL career for a player and 6 years is normally tough for a HC to get without a SB win. This is obviously by no means exhaustive and just some guys I came up with thinking about it for a couple minutes and thus leans very 90s-onward...

Rivers - Turner
Elway - Reeves
McNabb - Reid (Reid moved on from Alex Smith to Mahomes after year 5 to avoid a double-listing)
Romo - Garrett
Ryan - M Smith
Ryan - Quinn
McNair - Fisher
Garoppolo - K Shanahan
Jackson - Harbaugh
Allen - McDermott

Just to add to your list. I checked NFL.com from 70 or 71 (don't remember...) i looked at the list of passing leaders and checked their careers. This is up to 1990.

Jim Hart / Don Coryell
Dan Fouts / Don Coryell
Bert Jones / Ted Marchibroda
Joe Ferguson / Chuck Knox
Jim Zorn / Jack Patera
Brian Sipe / Sam Rutigliano
Ron Jaworski / Dick Vermeil
Dan Pastorini / Bum Phillips
Steve Bartkowski / Leeman Bennett
Danny White / Tom Landry
Dave Krieg / Chuck Knox
Warren Moon / Jerry Glanville
Ken O'Brien / Joe Walton
Bobby Hebert / Jim Mora
Jim Everett / John Robinson

Maybe later i'll do some more since 1990...
