Reds March/April 2025 thread

Take the greatness of our catchers hitting thus far this year and basically flip it for what we've gotten from 1B...
28th AVG, 28th OBP, 26th SLG, 26th OPS

Yep 1B has been atrocious.
I wonder if Stephenson can be an everyday 1B, and it may help keep him healthy.
I feel like Trevino and Wynns have C going just fine right now.

At least Candelario and Steer can play multiple positions as utility guys (although I hate the thought of highest-paid hitter as a utility/bench player, but he's the worst hitter right now).
I don't think CES has played anywhere but 1B, right?
If so, he seems like he is the one to demote out of the group.
Baseball-ref says he played 9 games at 3B and a couple games in OF back in 2023, but he's been strictly 1B last year and this one.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs

Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward.

Sorry for Party Rocking!

He was a 3B in college, but I think the way he's hitting you need to keep rolling with Marte at 3B for now (until he tests positive again).

He's also just not hit anywhere near well enough this year or last year for me to really worry a ton about making sure he has a spot in the majors. His time being truly truly atrocious is closing in on matching the same amount of time he was actually good his rookie year.

I think AAA is calling CES' name when Stephenson returns.

Phillies, Diamondbacks, Dodgers and Nationals have had some shitty home plate umps in their games.[Image: 491526561_18473848252069315_618821482888...e=68109598]
