Every time I run a simulator I'm not happy without a trade down. We've all talked about why: similar talent, many needs, doubling at DL and OG, ect...
...but who is dealing with us? Houston seems popular. If the Steelers love Dart maybe they want up. Maybe Denver for a WR. Who is your odds on pick for a player or team that would pose such an offer to us? I have still to do a mock but sell me on where we are trading down to. I say this as many other teams may have the same thought on talent from our spot through the mid-2nd.

Our 1st... for Detroit's 1st and 2nd.... is a relatively even trade. We would lose pick 17, but gain 28 and 60.
Detroit could be willing to deal if there is an EDGE/DE they like at our spot.

That may win there, still a pot of good DE prospects and some guards come into play, then you get the other need or BPA ag our pick, then still some good safety or double down at DL or OG options at 60. Yeah hopefully they love a DE enough to move up.

Off the top of my head:
The Rams may want to jump TB for Jihaad Campbell.
Houston needs an OT, which is a thinner spot in the draft than OG.
The Chargers, who need playmakers, could seek to get ahead of the Broncos just to screw them and take the best offensive weapon (TE/WR/RB) away.
Then there’s the long list of players who are gonna be higher on other boards than the Bengals (McMillan, Durden, Egbuka, Golden, Shedeur, Hampton, ….)

At 17 I could see a QB needy team making a play on Dart or Sanders. Maybe the Bills fall in love with a DL. Outside of that, maybe a team with 9 or more picks would want to trade for #49. The 49ers and Ravens have 11 picks this year. Several teams have 9 or 10.
I'd like to see them do something creative this year. There have to be teams that know that they're in a rebuild and will want to stock up on draft capital. That would be ammo to trade up for their future QB. The Bengals could deal next year's second to one of those teams. Or offer a pick swap like trading next year's 3, 4, and 5 for another team's 4, 5, and 6 in order to gain more picks this year. They need an infusion of talent NOW. They need competition all over the place. They need to get guys in the pipeline and they need to be able to strike a balance between need and BPA. The only feasible way to do that is to acquire more picks in this draft. Somehow, someway, they need to make that happen.

Teams like the Rams could look to jump the Chargers for Colston Loveland.
The Bills might be as low on this Corner class as I am and could move up if Will Johnson slides to #17.
The Chiefs might as be as bad on the OL right now as the Bengals. Kelvin Banks might be one of the few guys in this class that clan play Offensive Tackle so the Chiefs may move up in this weak class.
Edit: The Rams and Bills would probably jump at the chance to trade up for Jihaad Campbell.
There's some talk that Mason Graham might slide some. If he drops to Chicago at #10 the Bengals should consider jumping ahead of the 49ers at pick #11.

HOU or WAS, I think.
HOU would if there is a LT or 3T they like.
Their slotted LT right now is Cam Robinson and their slotted 3T is Sheldon Rankins.
I can see them not wanting to take a risk someone falls, especially if someone like Josh Simmons or Walter Nolen is sitting there and they worry either would make it to 25.
For WAS, I could see them trading up for either a SAF, front 7, or WR.
Aside from McLaurin, they're banking on Deebo Samuel, and Noah Brown is not good.
I could see them enticed by Luther Burden III or Emeka Egbuka.
They have Will Harris and Quan Martin at SAF, but they're meh. I could see them being really intrigued by Emmanwori or Starks. I lean E-man because they are in same division as PHI and E-man could help in the run game for sure.
Their front 7 is also getting older and not as productive, so I could see them trading up for Jalon Walker, Walter Nolen, or an edge.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs
Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward.

Thing is, if Loveland, Johnson, or Banks is there at 17, the Bengals should run the card up to the podium and not look back.
The lack of real 1st round prospects in this class makes trading down in the 1st very unappealing, because you're gonna wind up with a prospect with a 2nd round grade instead of a potential 1st. The only way it truly makes sense is if all of the guys you have a 1st round grade on are gone and someone is willing to trade up for Dart.

I don't disagree but that's the point the player also had to be worth trading up to get. There isn't many teams in the back half of rhe first round looking to trade up for Jaxson Dart as a prospect in my opinion.
I don't expect many first round trades but Day 2 trades will be high.

Traded 17 & 119 to the Niners for 25 & 43 and got Booker at 25. Then traded 43 & 153 to the Cardinals for 47 & 78 and Nolen still on the board at 47 was a steal for me and then i could not pass up the chance to team Henderson and Chase in the backfield. Wanted to add an edge and Oladejo was the BPA on the board. Have no clue if All will be back in stripes after his injuries, so Fannin Jr was a big get and Robinson could be a diamond in the rough!

Who would the 49'ers be trading up for?
I'm also confused how it was the 49'ers because 25th overall pick is HOU.
Did HOU trade up to 11 with SF and then SF gave them 25th overall and some other picks?
Also who would the Cardinals be trading up for in Rd 2, and why would they give up their 3rd to jump up just 4 spots and get a 4th back?

Texans traded up with the Niners and they got 25 & 43 and a few other picks. Niners ended up taking the safety out of Texas at #17.
