Stewart should be night and day from what we saw out of Sam the last few years. Will he make mistakes? Of course, but he i agree with you, also think NFL coaches will be better at blending his athletic skills with technique and finishing better. Also so much focus has been on his lack of sacks but where has been a weakness of late especially after Hubbard's body starting breaking down, lack of a good DE against the rush, i think that is wanted move him up over Pearce and Green, Bengals needed a 3 down DE . As for Hubbard a warrior as a player and a local ambassador especially for helping our schools. I know almost all of us thought Knight was taken a little soon in the Draft but he could be as solid of a rookie as there is A lot of people are complaining about Knight's age, but I think he is ready made to be paired with Wilson and the two of them will be something special this year. The age doesn't concern me if he can contribute to winning football right now. With Burrow as the Bengals all-universe QB it's time to maximize all player talent to win, win, and win. Thus, we don't need the 2nd round LB to be a young project, but rather he needs to be a pick that sees the field on game day and impacts the game to favor a Bengals win. Thus, agreed, he seems ready made to pair with Wilson and that matters more than him being a younger talent. Both Pearce and Green are undersized, weren't great at stopping the run and had character concerns. I didn't like how Shemar handled the contract situation speaking out, but we don't know what his agent advised him to do and character concerns were not a thing with Shemar before we drafted him. Sam Hubbard is all class and done some great things for us, but we desperately needed an End opposite of Trey with the skills that Shemar brings to the table. Yes sir Sled, Knight is pro ready and that is why Golden and Hobby wanted him so bad. I like Burks too like I said, all of these guys have been impressing at camp along with our obvious starter in Logan. Well said, we need to win now. Not just try and develop projects that are young. That's including the Jeffrey Gunters, Wyatt Hubers, Jordan Browns, and Deshaun Davis', etc out there bringing the average down. 2nd round picks are much longer. Of the 2017 2nd round draft class only 11 of the 32 failed to be on a roster in 2024 (aka, their 8th year since being drafted). 32/32 of the 2021 2nd round draft class (so last year was their 4th year) were on a team in 2024. Another great stat that most wouldn't think to look up. I've been optimistic on Knight since he was drafted, for a team that really needed to hit on some draft picks, he seems like a pretty good prospect. RE: Demetrius Knight - Isaac Curtis: The Real #85 - 07-29-2025 Knight was another pick I did not like, but his age had nothing to do with it. Him being pro-ready is a plus with us in win-now mode. I just thought it was a bit of a reach. We could have traded back and gotten him later. I didn't think LB was our most glaring need with Burks here and Wilson & Pratt signed (IOL, S), but if we really wanted a LB upgrade, we should gave taken Campbell Rd1. But those are positionsl priority and opportunity cost critiques. Nothing to do with the player, who I think will be our most impactful rookie. He and Fairchild are likely the only starters. But that kind RE: Demetrius Knight - 3wt - 07-30-2025 I'm a Knight fan for sure. But with our guard situation I'd have taken Ratledge. We look so lean at the guard spot. Just too iffy given the value of the guy they're supposed to be protecting. Today Ossai just destroyed Fairchild. Just demoralizing. Jihad Campbell is hurt and will be hurt till mid season, loved the player but everyone would question the pick just as much as he might not even play as a rookie. Cannot even practice until mid season, who knows what impact he makes, if any. Shoulder surgery is dicey, especially with Linebackers as we have seen with Logan. Ossai I think is going to tear it up this season so hopefully he just does that to everybody and Fairchild will be fine. Rookies will struggle, just the way it goes, Ratledge could struggle even more than Fairchild for all we know. Damn, looking back wouldn't of been a bad move by us to take him in the first. Might of even been able to trade back and grab him and a pick. Jihaad was my favorite LB in the draft for us to be our viper. I was okay with not taking him with the shoulder injury and reports of it taking him until mid season to even practice, guess those reports were really wrong. More than Stewart, for sure. My top 3 were Zabel, Jackson, & Campbell. Then Emmanwori, Starks, and Harmon. But water under the bridge, now. I personally did not see LB as a big need given they still had Pratt and just signed Burks to go with Wilson. That could have been an ok starting 3 LBs. And then they could have gotten a LB in Rd 4 like they did with Carter or gone with someone else to groom for a year while Pratt was on his final year under contract. I would have much preferred an IOL or pass rushing DT in Rd 2 instead of a LB, let alone taking two LBs. Coaches must have seen a much bigger concern/problem with Pratt than I think existed to have brought in basically 3 new LBs and then let Pratt go. I'm still worried about the interior pass rush and IOL blocking. |
