It’s enough to make you sick. They learned from him. He raised her. Taught her everything she knows. That's the funny thing. When we started winning and went to the SB...Katie and Troy and Tobin got the praise. Now, people are saying MB is running things. No one knows really!!! Great post Sunset. This is what I am hoping, Pollack is the perfect guy to replace to help Zac and Pitcher. If we have a run game and stick to it this Offense could be unstoppable. Having a smaller back in Chase Brown who sometimes goes down easy has also been great cover for Zac, but Herbert just had a nice run on the stealers yesterday too and is a bigger back. If we can get a new OL coach in here with some new Guards and Zac actually commits some to the run game great things could be ahead. Lets make a list of candidates to replace Pollack. Who was the Dolphins line coach when Zac was OC there for that handful of games? Oh wait...I think that guy was already our line coach once. I mean, I'd rather Burrow not pull a Palmer though, because I don't see MB budging on this just because one additional person, good at football as he may be, tells him for the one millionth time over the span of 34 years that having a real GM and/or doing real GM stuff would make us seem more like a normal franchise. I think we will see changes, the Defensives staff should all be let go. Pollack Influence may be a better word but I agree. I mean I don't think Joe is going to go into a Front Office post season meeting and pound on the table demanding a new whatever? I don't think the Brown family will just say "Joe, you're running the show, what do you want?" But I do feel they will listen to what Joe has to say (he's that kinda guy) and probably will act on some of it. And I can see JB, behind closed doors, having a big influence. Joe's not gonna come out in public and say the interior Olinemen suck, the defense is putridly awful, Stone is a joke at S, we have no DT's, and on and on. But I feel when he talks, people listen. Mike Brown knows he doesn't run this franchise like a normal NFL franchise is run, so I'm not sure Burrow telling him stuff is going to make a difference. It isn't like Burrow is going to go in there and educate Mike Brown on how to run a team and he's going to say "Woah, I never thought of that...I'll do that right now!" MB knows what he isn't doing, the only chip any player, Burrow or otherwise, has is to threaten him or give him an ultimatum and you can't do that if you are bluffing. Unless Burrow is willing to pull a Palmer, I don't see how Burrow trying to strong arm the boss is going to be any different this time. Or maybe it will be and Mike Brown will admit that Sam Wyche, Boomer Esiason, Corey Dillion, Carson Palmer and so on and so forth just weren't good enough at football to change his style for but Burrow is. RE: Joe Burrow puts team on notice - RegularGuy22 - 12-02-2024 How exactly did Burrow put the team on notice? Sounded like typical game loss player speak to me. He has to be careful what he says and won't really say what is on his mind. He is smart enough not to burn bridges down just yet. He, Chase and Higgins should be planning their escape route out of Cincy if they ever want to see a SB again. Nothing will change from the way the Browns/Blackburns run this team. They simply don't put winning SB's as top priority. It is easy to see. Look at all the head coaches, coaching staffs, players that have worked here and all failed to win a SB for whatever reason and the only fact that remained the same is this front office and their way of doing things which simply does not work. Hard to believe they have ruined a fairly solid team from 2-3 years ago to what is on the field now but they have done it. Stubborn front office refusing to adapt, terrible draft choices, below average coaches, unable to develop rookies, a head coach trying to do too much and his refusal to develop a run game and being far too predictable, letting top quality players walk, it all adds up to failure. At times it looks like opposing D's know our offensive scheme better than our own players do. I don't think the Brown family will just say "Joe, you're running the show, what do you want?" As usual you are spot on. Influence is a much better word. Burrow is too classy to call out individuals or demand anything. I have seen enough over the last 4 or 5 years to see it is different around here with the FO with the Blackburns and the youth instead of just the old man that they will try and make Joe happy and try and put the best team on the field possible with what they have to work with. Sucks when we lost Bates and Reader to only replace them with a one year wonder that cannot tackle and Rankins who doesn't even play the same position as Reader. It is unfair to criticize both Kris Jenkins and McKinnley Jackson as rookies, even Reader was a nobody as a rookie. I have seen good things from Kris, he could be a good 3-tech down the road if he can develop some more moves and gain some more strength. Mims is probably the best rookie OL I have seen us draft in the last 10 years or so. There are some good developmental blocks for the new coaches to work with and both Rankins and Stone's money should be freed up along with many others. Not a complete rebuild, but change should happen for the better and they should ask Burrow's opinion on it. IIRC, Mixon wound up doing a helluva lot better after the change. For a guy like Lazor to see that and make the change was pretty damning. We would of never had the Free Agency of Hendrickson, Reader, Awuzie, Ogunjobi, Hilton, Waynes (injured but top FA signing at the time) if it is the same old Mikey Boy running it like he always has. I tend to think it is a bit in between and the entire family, Duke and Zac are running things now with Mikey Boy having input to make him feel like he is running it. We will see with how much change does happen, but some change on the Defensive side of the ball WILL happen. Lou fired at the very least. |
