Bengals sign LS Cal Adomitis to a 1 year deal. Salary not posted yet, but I am assuming $1,030,000, which is the min for a 2 year vet.
We also cut Sheldon Rankins. I hope Sheldon get can get healthy soon. Which freed up $9.618 in cap space but does carry a $2 mil dead cap hit.
Speaking of cap space, with the news that the cap will be in the range of $277.5 to $281.5 mil, we can now calculate our base cap number. So I have added a cap section.

B. Cap Space Calculator
Aa soon as I have the Adomitis number, I will start to break these down. There are s mevral ways to do it.
The most common via spotrac & OTC is the top 51 method, which is accurate for the off-season, but does not include all 53 players in the regular season, the cost of the practice squad or rookies, or include low salary guys likely to make the team.
So, top 51 gives a quick idea of howuch space you have, but is gonna overestimate the space by the cost of the PS ($3-$4 mil), 2 low end roster spots ($2 mil), and the cost of you rookie contracts over existing guys (hard to say, depending on who gets cut).
At the moment, spotrac has not updated their cap estimates and are still using $275, while OTC has and is at $279.5. Right in the middle of the range. Given that spotrac is underselling the cap AND regular season realities by roughly the same amount, while OTC isn't, I think sootrac is the better guestimate for our actual situation at the moment.

Aa soon as I have the Adomitis number, I will start to break these down. There are s mevral ways to do it.
The most common via spotrac & OTC is the top 51 method, which is accurate for the off-season, but does not include all 53 players in the regular season, the cost of the practice squad or rookies, or include low salary guys likely to make the team.
So, top 51 gives a quick idea of howuch space you have, but is gonna overestimate the space by the cost of the PS ($3-$4 mil), 2 low end roster spots ($2 mil), and the cost of you rookie contracts over existing guys (hard to say, depending on who gets cut).
At the moment, spotrac has not updated their cap estimates and are still using $275, while OTC has and is at $279.5. Right in the middle of the range. Given that spotrac is underselling the cap AND regular season realities by roughly the same amount, while OTC isn't, I think sootrac is the better guestimate for our actual situation at the moment.

I just looked at Spotrac and you appear to be using the wrong cap number. On the page, at the very bottom is the cap number for top 51 and it says 58+ million. Also, look at their calculation. It starts with 275 million versus the 277.5 to 281 million number.
I am reading we have over 60 million in cap space right now, but maybe I am missing something. At a minumum once the new cap figure is added, if we use your 53+ million, it becomes closer to 56 million if the low end of the cap is the end number for each team.

The Spotrac number you have has the draft picks (high, it will be lower as we sign FA"s). Bengals like to keep 5 million for injuries. Hudson is not listed yet. If the practice squad is 3 million, Bengals have my best guess at least 42 million.
If they do sign Tee to long term deal, his 26 million comes way down in 2025. If they sign Chase to extension his 21 million comes down. If the restructure Burrow, his 46 million comes way down. I could see us have an additional 40 million in cap space if we sign/resturcture all 3.

Bengals have sogned TE/WR Mike Gesicki to a 3 year, $25.5 million dollar deal. Boyd had been replaced. No numbers on the yearly cap hit on OTC and spotrac yet for the Gesicki/Hudson deals yet, but they are back.

Monetary info in on Gesicki & Ford at OTC. But not Hudson, who won't move the needle much.
Gesicki has a cap hit of $7,666,666 and a Dead Cap hit of $6.5 mil/$2,166,666 pre/post 6/1. Ford has a Cap Hit of $2,570,588 and a Dead Cap of $1.0 mil/$500k. A $4.4 mil cap hit next year.
OTC has our top 51 space at $43 mil.
Between the lack of a Burrow restructure ($19 mil), and dragging our feet/failing on Tee/Chase deals (at least $10 mil) and failing to make some other obvious cuts (Moss & Volson), I'd estimate we left around $37+ mil in cap space on the table.
We are willing to overpay for crappy reserve oineman but not to lock up elite players that would actually SAVE us cap in the short term.

I like this move. We needed a vet DT and BJ is solid vs the run and a decent pass rushed. We now have 3 DTs on the roster. I'd expect at least 1 draft pick. Maybe 2. Or a discounted/moderate vet. Plus, I did not see a real stud DT on the market. Did not want to overpay for a specialist.
But I think we should shift to G now. 1 or 2.
