Don't think you start with two rookie TEs. Hudson was solid last year when he got his chances and rarely dropped a pass. 39 catches has a backup is nothing to sneeze at. Maybe All starts on pup. Dont see 5 LB no matter how the preseason goes If Tycen is healthy and is a ST ace he’s makin it no matter how many safeties we have RE: 53 Man Post Draft Way Too Early Projection - kalibengal - 04-29-2024 (04-28-2024, 06:12 PM)Essex Johnson Wrote: nice breakdown I see Evans cut, they go with 3 or we will pick someone up, also Mclachlan goes to Practice Squad or All goes to PuP Hudson stays on roster I can see Z Carter or C Sample cut in addition to Evans Out of Carter and Sample, I would keep Sample just for his versatality RE: 53 Man Post Draft Way Too Early Projection - Whatever - 04-29-2024 (04-28-2024, 07:34 PM)CJD Wrote: For context, the players from last year's roster that have already been or would be removed from the roster as part of this projection: Anthony might have the edge over Anderson. Keep in mind that he played a good deal of both outside and slot CB in college. For those back end of the roster guys, being able to fill in at multiple positions in a pinch is very valuable. I could definitely see Ossai or Sample traded at the cut line. If Sample doesn't get traded, I think Carter's spot on the 53 is in serious jeopardy. He would be another trade candidate. I will diverge a little, but not much: Offense: 24 QB (2): Burrow, Browning RB (3): Moss, C. Brown, T. Williams WR (6): Chase, Highins, Irwin; Burton, Iosivas, Jones TE (4): D. Sample, Gesicki, McLachlan, Hudson OT (4): O. Brown, T. Brown, Mims, Ford (OT/G) OG (3): Cappa, Volson, FA Guard C (2): Karras, Lee Defense: 26 DE (5): Hendrickson, Hubbard, Murphy, C. Sample, Ossai DT (6): BJ Hill, Rankins; Jackson, Jenkins, Carter + FA Nose. LB (4): Wilson, Pratt, ADG, Bachie CB (6): CTB, Turner, Hilton, D. Hill, Newton, J. Davis S (5): Battle, Stone, Bell, Anderson, Anthony ST (3): PK: McPherson P: McNamara LS: Adomitis PUP (2): All (TE), Ivey (CB). PS (16) QB: Woodside RB: Evans (or an UDFA/late cut) WR: S. Jackson OT: Carman, Smith G: Kirkland C: T. Hill DE: Gunter, Jackson DT: Tufele, Bell LB: Harper, Njongmeta CB: George ----- 2 open: likely Hudson + a DB once All & Ivey are healthy. RE: 53 Man Post Draft Way Too Early Projection - Bengal Dude - 04-30-2024 I definitely see All starting the year on PUP. Those two should probably start the year on pup. It would be nice to have them get back and compete for a spot in camp. But it would be stupid to make them rush back. So that could mean Hudson and Ossai do make it. RE: 53 Man Post Draft Way Too Early Projection - BoomerFan - 05-02-2024 (04-28-2024, 05:31 PM)NATI BENGALS Wrote: 25 on O I think they are going to try to move Trey Hill to Guard again. It might not stick but I would pencil him in there and take out Chris Evans at RB. If they did have space for a fourth RB it would be Elijah Collins (Oklahoma State) or Noah Cain (LSU), probably Collins whom they gave a (small) signing bonus to. However I don't see the roster space for them unless someone gets injured/starts on IR (or is it PUP now that creates a spot?). RE: 53 Man Post Draft Way Too Early Projection - Isaac Curtis: The Real #85 - 05-04-2024 I will amend my earlier effort and limit myself to guys we currently have. Though I do hope a FA G is coming. Offense: 24 QB (2): Burrow, Browning RB (3): Moss, C. Brown, T. Williams WR (6): Chase, Higgins, Burton; Irwin, Iosivas, Jones TE (4): D. Sample, Gesicki, McLachlan, Hudson OT (5): O. Brown, T. Brown, Mims, Carman (OT/G), Ford (OT/G) OG (2): Cappa, Volson, (Ford, Carman). C (2): Karras (C/G), Lee Defense: 26 DE (6): Hendrickson, Hubbard, Murphy, C. Sample, Ossai, Johnson DT (5): BJ Hill, Rankins; M. Jackson, Jenkins, Carter. LB (5): Wilson, Pratt, ADG, Bachie, Harper CB (5): CTB, Turner, Hilton, D. Hill, Newton. S (5): Battle, Stone, Bell, Anderson, Anthony ST (3): PK: McPherson P: McNamara LS: Adomitis PUP (2): All (TE), Ivey (CB). PS (14/16) QB: Woodside RB: Evans WR: S. Jackson, Lassiter OT: Smith G: Kirkland C: T. Hill DE: Gunter DT: Tufele, Bell, Maxwell LB: Heyward, Njongmeta CB: J.Davis, George ----- 2 open: likely Hudson + a S once All & Ivey are healthy. RE: 53 Man Post Draft Way Too Early Projection - schroomytunes - 05-04-2024 I think they need to somehow sign a veteran FA guard to come on a 1 year contract, just to solidify the backup positions: some guys I like are: 1) Greg Van Roten (34) - still plays at a decent level. 2) Mason Cole (28)- average backup at the center position - i wouldnt mind a training camp trade either to land a backup Guard/Center if it upgrades our IOL depth. RE: 53 Man Post Draft Way Too Early Projection - ochocincos - 05-05-2024 QB (2): Burrow, Browning RB (4): ^Moss, Brown, Williams, Evans TE (4): ^Gesicki, Sample, Hudson, *McLachlan (*All to PUP/IR) WR (6): Chase, Higgins, *Burton, Jones, Iosivas, Irwin OT (4): OBJ, ^TB, *Mims, Carman OG (3): Volson, Cappa, Ford C (2): Karras, *Lee DE (6): Hendrickson, Hubbard, Murphy, Ossai, Sample, *Johnson DT (5): Hill, Rankins, *Jenkins, *Jackson, Carter LB (4): Wilson, Pratt, ADG, Bachie S (4): ^Stone, ^Bell, Battle, Anderson CB (6): CTB, Turner, Hilton, Hill, *Newton, Davis (Ivey to PUP/IR, would replace Davis once back) K (1): McPherson P (1): *McNamara LS (1): Adomitis ^ = free agent * = draft pick The spots I was most torn on: - Lee beating out Trey Hill for backup C. I think Lee gives the athletic upside that Hill doesn't have. And we've seen enough of Hill after 3 years to know what he can and cannot do. - I *think* that in order to keep all the TEs, they'll put All on PUP or IR while he continues to recover from a torn ACL. I think this is more likely than only going 3 RBs and 5 TEs. - I am thinking the coaches will prefer to actually go with an 11th DL over a 5th LB, as they would be more likely to lose Johnson on the PS than Heyward or Harper. If they end up ever needing a LB due to injury, they can pull up one of the LBs from the PS. Johnson will be in a good spot as a weekly inactive his rookie year before being officially bumped into the rotation next year once Ossai and/or Sample departs in FA. RE: 53 Man Post Draft Way Too Early Projection - Bengalstripes9 - 05-05-2024 Ossai over Carter. A guard over a 4th RB. 1 more corner, 1 less LB |
