Anyways, that was the best AFL they have ever made, with the Jimmy Smith/Keenan McCardell one a close second. Lovely hour of television, I'm NEVER deleting this off the PVR.
Jim Brown said a lot of really nice things about him and did admit to playing a part by talking to Moddell. He said the game had "pretty much passed him by" at that point. The commentators also said that Brown preferred having guys with military backgrounds (World War II) because they were used to not questioning orders. Some of the recordings they played of him... you are correct that he was not all "sunshine and rainbows".
You do really have to wonder what would have been with Bill Walsh running this franchise throughout the late 80's into the 90's...
