As a matter of fact, I played adult football at the Semi-Pro level. I had my best season ever at age 32. Take that for what you will, but I also played DE, and Guard when needed, as well as DT in a pinch or even DT and ILB when needed. I take that as you were not very good. I played 7 seasons, started at many positions after the first season. Most of my time was at Guard and DE. I was just fast enough to play other spots when starters went down with injury (is very common in Semi-Pro ball). They probably did tell Trey last year that they would extend him this offseason but they did not plan or anticipate the market to be $30-35 million per year. Salaries always go up. Waiting with Chase costed more. I could do more examples. Maybe they have no intent to keep Trey past this year? They appear to be trying to draft his replacement. He starts getting fined if he misses any madatory practices, TC and games. His 15.8 million could become 10 million by October. Him sitting out likely torpedoes the defense as he's the only proven pass rusher too. It's a classic lose lose. Trey basically said he doesn't want a short term deal. RE: Trey Hendrickson Update - J24 - 05-13-2025 Bengals just signed 30 year old BJ Hill to a three year deal for 33 million(which is a lot for an above average DT) 16 of which is fully guaranteed. So why can't they spend big money on an Elite Edge who is 30? RE: Trey Hendrickson Update - Nately120 - 05-14-2025 Can we win the SB this year without this guy? That's why the Bengals have an out they can cut him in March 2026 for only a 7m dead cap. They made the first year of his contract massive making it look like they are "spending" like other teams but they are not. RE: Trey Hendrickson Update - wanga - 05-14-2025 The more he’s putting out in the media the less sympathy I’m having for him. Ok, now everytime I see one of your posts Will Ferrell yelling "Everybody Love Everybody" is going to come to mind. Awesome, Will Ferrell is a funny guy, and so are you.. RE: Trey Hendrickson Update - Millhouse - 05-14-2025 (05-14-2025, 07:07 AM)Nately120 Wrote: Can we win the SB this year without this guy? It certainly doesn't improve the odds come playoffs. RE: Trey Hendrickson Update - THE PISTONS - 05-14-2025 (05-14-2025, 07:07 AM)Nately120 Wrote: Can we win the SB this year without this guy? Well, we haven't made the playoffs with him getting 17.5 sacks each of the past 2 years. I still don't know that we have a playoff defense. It may be slightly better personnel wise. We're putting A LOT of pressure on the coaches. RE: Trey Hendrickson Update - THE PISTONS - 05-14-2025 I'll give a spoiler alert: Putting the Bengals management team on blast to the media isn't a way to get them to move. If anything, they'll dig their heels in and resist so that other players don't try the same thing. RE: Trey Hendrickson Update - THE PISTONS - 05-14-2025 (05-13-2025, 10:16 PM)Luvnit2 Wrote: Yes, he is 31 year old. Iam saying something like a 25 million base and then 10 million in incentives. If he produces, he gets all of the money. Why shouldn't the team leverage performance in the extension? Makes sense to me too, but I don't think he's interested in that. Sounds like he wants something near what Garrett got...in which case, I think trading him is the best option. But, I'm unclear on what the market is for him. So why can't they spend big money on an Elite Edge who is 30? I'll be honest, I don't think the disagreement is with the amount of money. I think Trey would take the amount offered but the other stipulations like the length of the deal and the guarantees are where he's disagreeing. I just wish if he wants communication from the Bengals, maybe he reach out to them first before reaching out to the media? Like, I get it, there should be constant communication to get a deal done, but it's not like Trey doesn't have their number. Only 16 million is guaranteed or less than 50%. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/44193063/sources-bengals-re-signing-bj-hill-3-year-33m-deal Free agent defensive tackle B.J. Hill is signing a three-year, $33 million deal that includes $16 million guaranteed to return to the Cincinnati Bengals, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Monday. Some fans would say it is disrespectful to offer such a low guaranteed portion. RE: Trey Hendrickson Update - jason - 05-14-2025 Both sides in this saga really suck at this... Trey's agent is awful. Trey himself whines a lot... As far as the front office? Why does it always have to be this way? Wonder which Brown/ Blackburn put Zac up to telling Trey he was gonna be fined for not showing up to mandatory workouts... Milton Williams signed a 104 million contract, yet only 51 million is guaranteed at signing. That is less than 50% guaranteed money. This is closer to te norm in the NFL, the Bengals follow the norm, they are not doing less than other teams. If you take total guarntees, it i still only 63 million. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/player/_/id/72453/milton-williams Contract Terms: 4 yr(s) / $104,000,000 Average Salary: $26,000,000 Signing Bonus: $24,000,000 GTD at Sign: $51,000,000 Total GTD: $63,000,000 Free Agent: 2029 / UFA DE Sweat signed with Cardinals in 2025. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/player/_/id/29061/montez-sweat Contract Terms: 4 yr(s) / $98,000,000 Average Salary: $24,500,000 Signing Bonus: $20,426,000 GTD at Sign: $41,964,888 Total GTD: $62,864,888 Free Agent: 2028 / UFA Why were these players nit insulted by the low guaranntees, 2 top players who signed quickly in 2025 FA? I'd have more sympathy for Trey's side of things if he didn't complain about his contract last year when the Bengals could literally do nothing to rectify his issues. If he's worried about respect, where is his apology to the Bengals for making a stink about his contract last year when they couldn't do anything about it? Not that this absolves the front office for any disrespect on their part, but kinda makes Trey look a little hypocritcal, no? |
