I think they end up getting something done down the road. An incentive laden contract is kind of an insult for Trey. He's healthy and he produces. He's getting older, so a front loaded contract with outs at the end is more apt here. No offense to you, but I feel like you're way off. The first number of any contract for the two time running league leader in sacks should begin with a 3, rather than a 2. Exactly RE: Trey Hendrickson Update - reuben.ahmed - 05-13-2025 someone else made an interesting comment I thought, if you don't pay your old stars, why would any rookies want to work hard on your team or why would a vet want to come to your team? most players are motivated by money (ahem, myles Garrett, I'll stay on this trash team). I wish the NFL made more player trades like the NBA does. Ultimately though I'm kind of over this drama. It's been mismanaged by Trey and his agent just as much as the Bengals perceived screw up. Yeah one thing I thought was silly was when he was asked if the relationship between him and the team could go back to normal. He said he didn't know, which is righteous bullshit. If they pony up the money, all will be forgiven quickly. RE: Trey Hendrickson Update - Essex Johnson - 05-13-2025 I love Tre but i also feel he was not upfront with Bengals after they signed him to last contract, now he wants loyalty but he wasn't very boyle with his last contract commitment. I said all along very unlikely. The bengals will sign the big 3.They chose higgins over trey, many aren't here one of that.So i'm surprised so many people are complaining about not signing him now also. At this point i'm just letting him sit if he wants, save money get through the year find someone else RE: Trey Hendrickson Update - BengalsBong - 05-13-2025 (7 hours ago)QueenCity Wrote: Bengals or Trey should leak the offers. I wish the NFL made more player trades like the NBA does. This whole offseason has been talking about Chase Tee and Trey. I delete any podcasters videos off timeline that referred to any of these stories. I have watched fewer videos this off season compared to the last 5 years just a bunch of redundant BS regurgitated over and over again with the needle on the stories hardly ever moving. The higher numbers should be for 2026 and 2027 and highly incintivized. If it begins we a 3, in my opinion it also should be tied to incentives (no guarantees). They won't be "tearing up" a contract, but rather extending it for another couple of years. They have paid well on second contracts (rookies) and vets in FA, it is the current deal as most will not come if not paid well. Trey signed 2 contracts with the Bengals, he agreed to them. There is no doubt Bengals got a deal as Trey outperformed. But look around, how did Browns do paying Watson. Ravens paying Tucker. Saints paying Carr. Everyone wants to ignore the risk the team takes on. Same people want to sign Trey for 32 to 40 million get upset we don't bring in more expensive FA vets. It takes to tango, Bengals made an offer, Trey refused to dance. RE: Trey Hendrickson Update - QueenCity - 05-13-2025 No one realistically thinks Trey will forfeit money to sit out the season at his age. Which is the exact reason the Bengals hold all the cards. Guy has started 78 games in the last 5 seasons (15.6 per year) with 70.5 sacks (14.1 per year) and you're going to offer him an incentive laiden contract? Clown move. Let;s see how the Steelers pay Watt and the guaranteed portion before we pass judgement on the Bengals FO. We have no idea what was offered. We do know right now Trey gets older daily and right now he only has 15.8 million guaranteed. The Bengals would be crazy to give him a 15 million dollar bonus to take him to 30.8 million in 2025, then pay him 32 to 35 million a year also in 2026 and 2027. Also, let's not forget he already pocketed a 10 million bonus 2 years ago in addition to his yearly salaries. Yes still underpaid, but the extension should be more about 2026 and 2027 from a team perspective, problem is Trey has his own perspective and neither side will get what they want. Yes, he is 31 year old. Iam saying something like a 25 million base and then 10 million in incentives. If he produces, he gets all of the money. Why shouldn't the team leverage performance in the extension? RE: Trey Hendrickson Update - SunsetBengal - 05-13-2025 (5 hours ago)Luvnit2 Wrote: Has it changed for 31 year old DE's? If so, how much? He's not 31, stop trying to "age" him. He won't turn 31 until late in the season. As a matter of fact, I played adult football at the Semi-Pro level. I had my best season ever at age 32. Take that for what you will, but I also played DE, and Guard when needed, as well as DT in a pinch or even DT and ILB when needed. Think about that. I had my best season at age 32, and I still worked a physical job every day of the week. Imagine what a pro athlete who also has good genetics can do past age 30. (7 hours ago)NUGDUKWE Wrote: No one knows what was offered. That's the complete truth no one knows so let's not assume he turned down money. Tee switched agents and the deal got done. That's not because Tee's original agent was bad. That agent wouldn't take the deal because NO OTHER team in the league would offer the deal the way the Bengals did. He can't take the deal if he's trying to get his client a deal that all other 31 teams would give. Chases agent just took the deal because Tee wanted it. Well at the same time they were reporting what Ja'Marr and Tee were getting offered and it came out pretty close for them after we saw the results. I agree that Trey has taken team friendly deals and we don't know the exact offer though, I just don't think as of late the Bengals have treated their players poorly. It just sucks for him being the one out of the top 3 that didn't sign the initial contract. We only have 27 mil in cap space now and he evidently wants more than 32 mil per year. Need to free up some dough. |
